Akron Public Schools is located in Akron, Ohio, in the northeastern part of the state, less than 40 miles south of Cleveland and 20 miles north of Canton. Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual APS Backpack Adventure at the Akron Zoo.

Hundreds of families joined us for two amazing evenings filled with school supplies, zoo exploration, and quality time together. We loved seeing our K–5 students get excited for the new school year, and we’re grateful to all who helped make it a wild success.

Last week, Harris Jackson CLC’s incoming kindergarten students got a head start with Kick Off to Kindergarten!

Through hands-on activities, social interaction and guided learning, students had fun building confidence and getting ready for their first year of school. They even got to experience their first school store visit! We can’t wait to welcome our newest scholars to kindergarten.

Wednesday, August 12 | 4–8 PM

Free zoo admission for K–5 APS students and two guests ($3 for extras, under 2 free). Free backpacks and school supplies (while they last!) Parking is free.
