🚨 Restoring History — One Piece at a Time 🚨

We’re pleased to announce the restoration of an original piece of Guilderland Fire Department history is complete!

For decades, this fire call box hung on the front of the Guilderland Fire Station, standing ready during an era when emergency communication looked very different than it does today.

After many years of service and exposure to the elements, the call box has been carefully cleaned, prepped, restored, and brought back to life while preserving the character of this unique piece of our department’s history.

Today, it has a new home as a permanent exhibit at the Engine Co. 3 Historical Fire Museum, where it can continue telling its story for generations to come.

This is exactly why our museum exists — preserving the past and educating the future.

Another piece of Guilderland’s firefighting history preserved. ❤️🚒

🚒 A Busy Day at Engine Co. 3! 🔥

Our volunteers are spending the day at the museum getting a lot of behind-the-scenes work done!

Today’s projects include installing new exhibits, giving the museum a thorough fall cleaning, and taking care of the centerpiece of our collection — Engine 3. The Mack is getting a good cleaning along with a comprehensive truck check to make sure everything is inspected and cared for.

Keeping a museum like ours going takes more than displaying history. It takes plenty of hands-on work to preserve the apparatus, maintain the building, and continue adding new pieces of fire service history for our visitors to enjoy.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who give their time to help keep Engine Co. 3 looking its best and moving forward.

Things didn’t quite go as planned today, but the mission was still accomplished.

Engine 3 was polished up and ready to take part in today’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Altamont. Unfortunately, while en route, Engine 3 developed a mechanical issue. Rather than risk causing further damage, we made the decision to turn around and return her safely to the museum. We’ve already reached out to Bulldog Fire Apparatus to have the issue looked into.

While Engine 3 didn’t get to make her appearance today, our team did. We arrived in Altamont in time to join our brothers and sisters in the fire service as we remembered and honored the 343 firefighters and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

A special thank you to the Altamont Fire Department for inviting us and for presenting us with a beautiful commemorative challenge coin. It will proudly be added to the Engine Co. 3 museum collection and displayed as a reminder of today’s ceremony and the friendships that continue to connect generations of the fire service.

We also grabbed a few photos from the ceremony to share with everyone who couldn’t be there.

Engine 3 may have missed this run, but there will be another one. Never Forget. 🇺🇸🚒

Engine 3 is polished up and ready to hit the road! 🚒🇺🇸

Today, Engine 3 will make the trip to Altamont as we join our friends at the Altamont Fire Department and departments from across the area for their annual September 11th Remembrance Ceremony.

We’re honored to have Engine 3 take part in today’s tribute as we come together to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

25 years later, we still remember. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🔥 Brandywine Apartments — Westmere Fire District
Our crews are assisting at a working structure fire at the Brandywine Apartments.

⚠️ Carman Road — Hazardous Condition
Crews are also operating at a hazardous condition on Carman Road involving a reported gas leak from a gas line.

Please use caution in these areas and give firefighters, emergency personnel, and apparatus plenty of room to operate.

Today was another great example of what mutual aid is all about.

A huge thank you to our brothers and sisters from the Altamont Fire Department for standing by at our station while Guilderland crews were committed to multiple concurrent calls throughout the district.

We’d also like to thank our brothers and sisters from the Guilderland Center Fire Department for their assistance during our hazardous condition call on Carman Road.

One of the truly amazing things about the fire service is knowing that when your resources are stretched and the calls keep coming, neighboring departments are ready to step in without hesitation. Different patches, different stations — but when someone needs help, we’re all on the same team.

Thank you, Altamont and Guilderland Center, for having our backs today. Mutual aid at its finest. 🚒🤝🔥

This Friday, Engine Co. 3 Fire Museum is honored to have been invited by the Altamont Fire Department to join them for their annual remembrance ceremony.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside their members and community as we pause to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
