Our Thoughts Are With Battalion Chief Wayne Brennan

The members of the Guilderland Fire Department extend our thoughts and prayers to Battalion Chief Wayne Brennan following yesterday’s tragic explosion.

We are keeping Chief Brennan, his family, and all of our brothers and sisters of the Albany Fire Department in our hearts during this difficult time. We wish him strength, healing, and a full recovery, and hope for comfort and resilience for everyone affected by this incident.

The fire service is one family. When one of us is injured in the line of duty, we all stand together.

Please join us in keeping Battalion Chief Brennan, his loved ones, and the members of the Albany Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers.

🎬 The Towering Inferno (1974) 🚒🔥

Before today’s high-rise firefighting tactics and modern fire protection systems, this Academy Award-winning film gave audiences one of the most dramatic portrayals of a major fire ever put on the big screen.

Starring Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, The Towering Inferno showcases the bravery, teamwork, and split-second decisions firefighters face when lives are on the line. While Hollywood took some creative liberties, the movie remains one of the greatest fire service films ever made and has inspired generations of firefighters.

If you’ve never seen it, tonight is the perfect time. If you have, you already know why it’s considered a classic.

Rolling Forward With Pride 🚒

A late night in the museum meant one thing… it was time to get the old girl shining again.

After returning from her annual preventative maintenance at Bull Dog Fire Apparatus, our 1984 Mack CF received six brand-new tires. With the fresh rubber mounted, it was only fitting to spend the evening buffing, polishing, and giving Engine 3 the attention she deserves.

Preserving a piece of fire service history takes time, dedication, and a lot of elbow grease—but seeing her ready for the next parade, community event, and museum visitors makes every minute worthwhile.

New wheels. Same tradition.

💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church 💙

After a long day responding to storm-related emergencies throughout our community, our firefighters were blessed with an incredible act of kindness.

The members of Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church generously delivered BBQ chicken dinners to our crews, providing not only a wonderful meal but also a much-appreciated reminder of the amazing community we have the privilege to serve.

Small acts of kindness like this mean more than you know. Your generosity helped keep our firefighters fueled and encouraged as they continued responding to calls throughout the day.

From all of us at the Guilderland Fire Department, thank you for thinking of us and for your unwavering support of first responders. We are truly grateful to have neighbors like you.
