The combination of temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s and high humidity values will lead to dangerous heat indices in the upper 90s to lower 100s today. Those susceptible to heat-related illness will be particularly at risk of negative impacts to their health along with anyone who spends prolonged periods of time outside without adequate water and respite within a cooled area.

[9:20 PM] A line of thunderstorms is moving SE into the region with wind gusts up to 50 mph possible especially in Ulster and southern Greene counties. Gusts could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses and create a plan to prevent them in yourself. Likewise, know and prepare yourself for the dangers that come with non-severe and severe thunderstorms. Preparedness is power!
