As we honor those heroes and victims of the 9/11 attack on this 25th anniversary, let us take a moment of silence in their memory and for the loved ones they have left behind.

On Tuesday August 31, 2021, I was afforded the privilege and honor of meeting Frank Siller, CEO of Tunnel to Towers Foundation and walking with him briefly on his Never Forget Walk. On September 11, 2001 Frank’s brother Stephen, a NYFD firefighter, responded to the World Trade Center and was one of the heroes lost that day to the terrorist attack. Stephen left a wife and five children.
To honor Stephen’s memory and those who lost their lives that day, Frank started the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The foundation pays off the mortgages or provides homes to families of fallen first responders and military. To date the foundation has closed on over 1700 homes.
Frank was taking part in a six-week walk from the Pentagon to the World Trade Center. He concluded his 537-mile trek on September 11, 2021 marking the 20th anniversary of the attack.

Attached is the link to the Tunnel to Towers website. I encourage those of you, who are able to, donate to this most worthy cause.

Today we honor the lives of Lehigh County Sheriff Mark Sensenbach and Deputy Harry Siegfried on the 100th anniversary of their line of duty deaths. They were shot and killed in Weisenberg Township while attempting to arrest a man who failed to pay a $2.00 fine for not sending his children to school.

May God rest their souls…

It is with great profound sadness that we mourn the passing of former Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin. Jim served since January 1998 and was elected to six (6) consecutive four-year terms. His dedication to public service is unparalleled. An innovator, during his tenure he formed:

1st investigating Grand Jury in Lehigh County
Child Advocacy Center
MERT Team
Lehigh County Homicide Task Force
David M. Petzold Digital Forensic Lab
Veterans Mentoring Program
Elder Abuse Task Force
Lehigh County Central Booking
Lehigh County Regional Intelligence and Investigation Center
Team MISA (dealing with defendants with Mental Illness)
Auto Theft Task Force
Insurance Fraud Task Force
Blue Guardian Program (combating Opioid Crisis)

He also served as Past President of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association and the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Institute (training for new D.A.’s in the state)

Jim has been the single most driving force for the advancement of Law Enforcement in the history of Lehigh County.

On his watch, he has made Lehigh County a better and safer place to live and to visit.

Jim’s dedication to our community can certainly and should be emulated by those of us in public service.

I am honored and privileged to have had him as my Friend…
