Big thanks to Abiding Hope Church Youth Group for spending time with us in the warehouse this week! This awesome group traveled all the way from Littleton, Colorado and made Food Bank of Alaska part of their visit.

Each month, an average of 30 community members volunteer with Food Bank of Alaska, giving more than 1,400 hours of their time. Over the course of a year, that support equals about 9 full-time employees.

We truly could not do this work without our volunteers. From local neighbors who come back again and again to groups visiting from out of state, every shift helps move food through our warehouse and out to partners across Alaska.

We’re grateful for every volunteer who keeps showing up, again and again, to support this work.

When a room full of musicians plays for a room full of people who care about their neighbors, something pretty special happens.

For years, Alaska Jazz Workshop’s Jazz Fighting Hunger concert has brought music and community together to support Food Bank of Alaska. To date, the event has raised more than $350,000, helping provide roughly 700,000 meals across our state.

Jazz is built on listening, responding and creating something bigger together. Food banking works the same way.

It takes donors, volunteers, partner agencies, staff, drivers and supporters all playing their part to make sure food reaches Alaskans who need it.

It’s a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community finds its rhythm.

And the music continues! John Damberg announced that Alaska Jazz Workshop plans to host additional Jazz Fighting Hunger concerts this fall during Hunger Action Month and throughout the giving season.

Stay tuned for upcoming concert dates. 🤎

We’re honored to share that Food Bank of Alaska has been selected as a beneficiary of the 2026 Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball on October 10. 🤎

This year’s event will support four organizations serving our community in very different but deeply meaningful ways: Food Bank of Alaska, Alaska Center for the Performing Arts Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team and FISH.

For Food Bank of Alaska, this support helps turn generosity into food for our neighbors. Our purchasing power is strong, which means every dollar can go further, but the need across Alaska remains high. With support from this event, we can continue moving food through our statewide network of partner agencies, mobile food pantries, rural shipments, and more. Every week, thousands of Alaskans are connected with food because this community continues to show up.

We’re grateful to be included alongside these incredible organizations and grateful for every person who makes the Mayor’s Charity Ball possible.

Save the date, gather your table, and come spend an evening supporting community, generosity and impact.

A big thank you to the American Association of Drilling Engineers for their generous $2,500 gift to Food Bank of Alaska!

AADE hosted their annual Fin Feather Fur Food Festival fundraiser last week, and chose to direct that support right here in Alaska. Gifts like this help strengthen our purchasing power when donations are low and the need is high, so food keeps moving to the neighbors who need it most.

Thank you for your support and partnership, Greg Hobbs and AADE!

The 49th State just got a new connection. 💙💛❤️

Last Friday, Southwest Airlines joined us at Food Bank of Alaska to volunteer and celebrate the launch of their inaugural Alaska route, connecting Anchorage to Southwest’s broader United States network with seasonal nonstop service from Denver and Las Vegas.

It was a pretty perfect way to mark the moment. New routes bring people to Alaska, but this visit also showed what it looks like to connect with the community once you land.

Their team spent time in our warehouse helping move food to neighbors across Alaska, where distance, logistics and transportation all play a huge role in food access.

Welcome to The Last Frontier, Southwest. Thank you for celebrating this milestone with service, good energy and a whole lot of heart.
