thread's Public Policy Manager recently joined Senator Murkowski’s staff for a tour of Tundra Tykes Child Care Center in Anchorage. The visit provided an opportunity for Senator Murkowski’s staff to see Alaska’s child care system firsthand, hear directly from early childhood educators, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing child care programs and families across the state. 🙌

Visits like these are an important part of building a shared understanding of what is happening on the ground. By connecting policymakers with early childhood educators and seeing programs in action, we can help ensure that conversations about child care are informed by the experiences of the families, educators, and communities who rely on the system every day. 💝

Alaska’s Primary Election is behind us, and now attention turns to the November 3 General Election. 👇

In the coming months, candidates across Alaska will be talking with voters about the challenges facing their communities and what they hope to accomplish if elected. This is an important opportunity for families, child care professionals, employers, and advocates to make sure child care is part of those conversations.

It is also why thread is engaged in the 2026 election and committed to elevating the importance of child care as an issue that affects families, communities, and businesses.

thread’s role is to help ensure voters have access to information; Alaskans have the opportunity to participate, and candidates understand the child care issues affecting communities across the state.
