The creek behind Patricia's home in Hot Springs rerouted during Helene, flowing through their home. And while her family and their home survived, the structure was severely damaged. Thanks to ARCHR, CHC - Community Housing Coalition of Madison County, NC and Habitat, Patricia and her husband now have stable flooring, insulation, a new kitchen, and an accessible shower. To make more repairs like this possible, please make a donation to ARCHR today.

A huge thank you to the Thrivent Top Advisors Build (who came from all over the country!) for spending their time with us connecting and building together! These folks shared a wonderful meal with a couple future homeowners and worked out at New Heights touching up a home ready to close, working on roofing, trim, and so much more.

Did you know that in Guatemala nearly a quarter of all homes have dirt floors? Studies show that installing concrete floors can significantly influence economic development, improve health and well-being, reduce school absenteeism, and increase children’s indoor playtime. YOU can help bring life-altering housing solutions to Guatemala families by participating in our Global Village trip, October 31-November 7, 2026. We'll be working with our longtime partner, Habitat Guatemala, to lay concrete floors and install Healthy Home Kits. Learn more and sign up soon; spots are limited. https://www.ashevillehabitat.org/how-to-help/volunteer/

The 15th Annual ReUse Contest is underway! Submit your DIY creations before the end of September. Details below.

The 15th Annual ReStore ReUse Contest is now open! We can't wait to see what beautiful, sustainably-sourced projects our community has been cooking up for us.

Submit your latest and greatest D.I.Y. projects made from mostly recycled materials in any of the three categories (Art, Dwelling, and Home Decor) for a chance to win.

Entries are open from August 1st (today!) through September 30th. Once the entry period closes, online voting will open to the public through the month of October so that you, our beloved community of reusers, recyclers, and generally crafty folk, can vote to determine a winner in each of the three categories.

After public voting closes on October 31st, the Best in Show winner will be decided by a judging panel composed of Asheville Habitat staff and volunteers. Each category winner takes home a $200 ReStore gift card, while the winner of Best in Show will take home a $500 gift card and bragging rights for a year. May the best D.I.Y. recycler win!

Find the contest guidelines and entry form on our website at ashevillehabitat.org/restore/reuse-contest/

A huge thank you to the amazing Thrivent volunteer team from Wisconsin for spending the week building with us!

They tackled one of the toughest jobs on site- rolling out sod- in the middle of some serious summer heat, and somehow kept the smiles and positive attitudes coming all week long. We're so grateful for your hard work, service, and the miles you traveled to help local families achieve homeownership.
