Thank you to this wonderful Thrivent volunteer group! They spent the week building homes with us at New Heights and we're so grateful for their support. We host a dinner for week long volunteer groups with a future homeowner family (pictured here) and it's always such a wonderful way to connect, share, and learn.

It's hard to believe it's been two years since Hurricane Helene upended lives and communities across WNC. Today, we honor our neighbors, reflect on all that has been lost, and look ahead as our community continues to rebuild. Check out our 2 Year Helene Anniversary report to reflect on all the ways we've come together to build and rebuild hope together:

ARCHR (the Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair) has completed nearly 350 repairs since Helene. This kind of collaboration and partnership inspires us, as we all come together to restore safety, stability, and hope to our neighbors. The New Heights neighborhood continues to grow- Dru is a homeowner!

Dru has always dreamed of creating a stable home for her three children to thrive in and now, she can say she's done that. This month she purchased her beautiful, affordable 4 bed/2 bath home.

Her home was made possible by the Soulshine Concert Fund and Adopt-a-Lot sponsors Kerney and Jane McNeil. Welcome home, Dru!

Thank you to all of the volunteers who took this house from just a floor system to a roof in just a few days!

This was a new approach for our New Home Construction team- a way to quickly frame up a home while other volunteers continue finishing up houses that will be closing soon. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities like this in the future!

Submit your DIY creations by Sept. 30! Public voting starts in October.

The 15th Annual ReStore ReUse Contest is now open! We can't wait to see what beautiful, sustainably-sourced projects our community has been cooking up for us.

Submit your latest and greatest D.I.Y. projects made from mostly recycled materials in any of the three categories (Art, Dwelling, and Home Decor) for a chance to win.

Entries are open from August 1st (today!) through September 30th. Once the entry period closes, online voting will open to the public through the month of October so that you, our beloved community of reusers, recyclers, and generally crafty folk, can vote to determine a winner in each of the three categories.

After public voting closes on October 31st, the Best in Show winner will be decided by a judging panel composed of Asheville Habitat staff and volunteers. Each category winner takes home a $200 ReStore gift card, while the winner of Best in Show will take home a $500 gift card and bragging rights for a year. May the best D.I.Y. recycler win!

Find the contest guidelines and entry form on our website at ashevillehabitat.org/restore/reuse-contest/
