Upstairs we’ve assembled a few of our horror (and cozy horror) books from the adult shelves, from contemporary titles to classics. Did you know that Toni Morrison’s Beloved, a novel of brutal racism and a woman’s flashbacks to enslavement, is also a hauntingly Gothic narrative?
Come dip into:
-Blackwater by horror name Michael McDowell
-Wuthering Heights’ generational revenge saga, featuring the iconic, grisly “Window Scene”
-“The Minister’s Black Veil,” just one of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s eerie, observant short tales (collected in the red cover on the lower display level)
-Seth Grahame-Smith’s World War II-era sequel to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
-Joyce Carol Oates’s gruesome short-fiction collection, The Doll-Master
-Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen’s Gothic satire
..and tons more!
While you’re here, tell us what you love to read around Halloween.
“Ve” are.... RAVENOUS for suggestions!! 🧛‍♀️🧛‍♀️
