This week’s Senator Spotlight features Senator Ed Setzler (District 37).

Army Ranger. Engineer. Conservative workhorse. Senator Setzler represents Acworth, Kennesaw, west Cobb, and part of Bartow County — and he’s been one of the Capitol’s most persistent fighters for faith, family, and limited government.

Senator Setzler served nine years as a U.S. Army Officer with assignments in Europe, North Africa, and the Persian Gulf before building a 30-year career leading architecture and engineering programs nationwide. After serving in the Georgia House, he was elected to the Senate in 2022 and now chairs the Senate Committee on Science and Technology.

Whacky Wednesday: the DSA opened their first Georgia office in Atlanta.

Their own platform, in their own words: abolish the police and prison system. Public ownership of the largest corporations. Abolish the Senate. Defund, disarm and abolish ICE.

That is not our description of them. That is their published program.

Low taxes. Workforce training that matches real jobs. Licensure reform. Regulations with common sense. Government does not create growth, small businesses and entrepreneurs do, and we are keeping the government out of their way.

This week’s Senator Spotlight features Senator Billy Hickman.

With school starting across the state, there is no better senator to highlight than Senator Hickman, chairman of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth and the proud representative of Georgia’s 4th Senate District. The district includes Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, and Evans counties, as well as a portion of Chatham County.

A Certified Public Accountant and Georgia Southern graduate, Senator Hickman has made childhood literacy and rural education cornerstones of his service in the Senate. As chairman, he is leading initiatives to boost literacy rates, strengthen the K–12 workforce, and give every Georgia student the tools they need to succeed.

Senator Hickman also serves on the Appropriations Committee, as vice chairman of the Higher Education Committee, and as secretary of the Finance Committee—putting his financial expertise to work for Georgia families.

Senator Hickman continues to fight for rural communities, economic growth, and educational excellence throughout the 4th District.
