Lee, The Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Georgia (AH), is the largest housing authority in Georgia and one of the largest in the nation. AH provides and facilitates affordable housing resources for nearly 27,000 low-income households comprised of approximately 45,000 people, including AH-owned residential communities, tenant-based vouchers, supportive housing, and homeownership opportunities. Programs are funded and regulated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“We’re making our most significant investment in down payment assistance yet.” — Terri M. Lee

And Terri meant business!

When we say we’re helping families move from housing stability to economic mobility… this is what we mean.

At the 2026 State of Atlanta Housing, we announced a major investment in homeownership:

Eligible Housing Choice Voucher Program families may receive up to $60,000 in down payment assistance — more than doubling the previous maximum of $25,000.

Our goal? Help more families move from rental assistance to homeownership.

This initiative connects directly to Resident Renaissance and our focus on self-sufficiency, stability and economic mobility. Homeownership should feel possible. And when one family moves forward, it creates opportunity for another family, too.

More details on eligibility, timing and the application process will be shared as the program is finalized.

When we say we’re helping families move from housing stability to economic mobility… this is what we mean.

At the 2026 State of Atlanta Housing, we announced a major investment in homeownership:

What does a day dedicated to the people who build our communities look like?

Fresh food. Helpful resources. Great music. Even better community.

Our Senior Farmers Market & Resource Fair is back and we brought residents together for a day filled with fresh produce, wellness resources, movement, music, food, and connection at the Atlanta Civic Center. Seniors had the opportunity to access healthy fruits and vegetables, engage with community partners, learn more about health and wellness, and enjoy a day designed with them in mind.

From line dancing and bingo to health resources and community fellowship, the day served as a reminder that supporting our seniors means investing in health, joy, and quality of life.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers, and every resident who came out and made the day special. Community care looks good on us.
