The city of Atlantic is doing maintenance on 2 of their sirens this morning. The location's will be at 22nd & Chestnut and at Sunnyside Park. The technician will be manually testing these sirens and will activate them for a short time. If you hear a siren in these areas there will be no need for concern. Thank you and have a great day!

Behind every call, every emergency, and every moment of uncertainty, sits a Public Safety Dispatcher, ready to be the calm in your chaos.

During National Telecommunications Week, we recognize the unseen heroes of Public Safety. The dispatchers who answer the call, no matter the hour. The ones who stay calm when everything else feels chaotic. The voices that guide, reassure, and coordinate help when it’s needed most.

They are the FIRST First Responder. They gather critical information, coordinate and send resources, and often provide the lifeline between good and evil, until help arrives. They carry the weight of every call from the moment it begins to long after it is over, yet continue to show up unselfishly with professionalism, compassion, determination and mental strength.

To My Crew: Your strength in the toughest moments, your calm in the chaos, and your unwavering commitment to this community does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your dedication, your resilience, and your commitment to serving others. You are the steady voice people depend on when everything else feels uncertain, and I’m grateful for the difference you make every day!

Cass County is extremely fortunate to have over 100 years of experience sitting in our chairs.

Thank you to :

Now that the dust has settled and things have returned to “normal” in the center, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on the past couple days and the one feeling I continue to come back to is gratitude.

While I’m realistic enough to know there are always lessons to be learned and opportunities for improvement—and we will absolutely address those—the pride I have in this team far outweighs anything else right now.

There are 7 people, including myself, who run this office 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Every day brings new challenges to this room. Some are routine, some are complex, and some are the kind that make you want to throw your hands up and walk out the door. But that’s not what this team does. They sit down, lock in, and get the job done.

While the chaos unfolds outside, the center becomes the calm that holds everything together. Call after call, request after request, locating resource after resource, they worked diligently while building a picture in their minds of what the outside world looked like. Those 24 hours were a blur, both physically and mentally.

To My Crew : THANK YOU!

Thank you for your professionalism when the pressure was high.
Thank you for managing your resources, finding solutions, and adapting when situations changed by the minute.
Thank you for listening to your responders, thinking beyond the obvious, and maintaining composure with callers during moments of frustration and fear.
Thank you for supporting one another.
Most importantly, thank you for making sure your responders had what they needed to do their jobs and return home safely to their families.

Until The Next Call ~
Bobbi
