📣 Important Notice!!!📣

It appears that Verizon Wireless users are not able to connect with the Cass County or Atlantic Police Department's non-emergency lines.
911 is the only operational line at this time for phones powered by Verizon Wireless.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible on our end to resolve the matter. We'll provide updates as the situation progresses.

UPDATE - 3PM on 8-4-2026

We believe the issue has been resolved. If you experience any issues please don’t hesitate to call 911. Thank you for your patience!

8-3-2026 @ 7PM

We are still having issues. We apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately there isn’t anything we can do at this time to fix it. I’ve created a ticket with Verizon and Century Link and will update when I have more information. Please share this so everyone is aware.

12:10 AM - 8-2-2026

We have been made aware that some callers are experiencing issues reaching the Cass County Communications Center (712-243-2204), the Atlantic Police Department (712-243-3512), and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (712-243-2206).

We are currently conducting additional testing, but at this time we believe the issue may be related to a Verizon and CenturyLink routing problem. We have experienced a similar issue in the past, where Verizon phones were unable to complete calls to CenturyLink landlines.

If this is determined to be a carrier routing issue, it will unfortunately be outside of our control to correct. We are continuing to investigate and will provide updates as we learn more.

If you are unable to reach us by phone and have an emergency or need to reach us, please call 911, as there is no know issue with that service.

📣Public Awareness Post📣

Our office would like to make the public aware that Kristofer Bookman Kartau, a student from Estonia and attending the Estonian Business School, will be in the area conducting door to door sales in an effort to help support his education. Kristofer stopped by our office this morning and had a nice conversation about his goals, journey and his time in our area. He will be selling books and educational materials to interested families. He asks that if you are simply not interested in his products just let him know and he will bid you a good day and move on. 📚

He is driving a Silver Subaru, plate SAR4228 (Georgia) & it will display ‘Southwestern Advantage’ logos.
