AVID Spring Family Night is one of our favorite nights of the year!

This event allows our students to show their families a glimpse into the AVID classroom by leading activities and sharing AVID strategies they use every day.

The highlight of the night is always the powerful Before AVID – After AVID presentation, where families get to see the incredible growth our 8th Grade AVID students have made over the past few years. We are so proud of their hard work and progress!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Brown, and Mr. Smith for the outstanding job they did planning such a great evening.

HELP US DUCT TAPE MR. VAUGHN TO THE WALL!

The FLOCK is hosting a fun fundraiser this week at AMS!

From now through Friday, students can donate money to help “stick” Mr. Vaughn to the wall during lunch on Friday!

For every $2 donated, 1 foot of tape will be added!

Will we have enough tape to keep him hanging on the wall? We’ll find out Friday! 😄

We’re proud of our AMS musicians! 🎶

On May 2nd, our 8th grade band and choir traveled to the Heartland Music Festival in Oklahoma and both groups earned a Sweepstakes Trophy for receiving all Division I ratings. The band was also awarded the Distinguished Performance Trophy, recognizing them as the judges’ favorite group of the day.

This continues a strong year for our program. Back in March, our 7th and 8th grade bands and choirs earned straight Division I (Superior) ratings at the Patriot Instrumental and Vocal Festivals.

A big thank you to directors Brandi and Clayton Kaus, and accompanist Clarissa Cox, for their leadership and dedication.

In Dr. Reed’s classroom, students have been diving into the world of Greek mythology! They began by reading Greek myths and participating in reader’s theater activities before moving into a research project that brought their learning to life.

We love seeing students engaged in meaningful learning at AMS!
