Celebrating the National Day of Writing!

October 20th was the National Day of Writing, and our 7th grade and Creative Writing students took their learning out into the community! Students explored downtown Augusta, discovered pieces of our town’s history, and looked for inspiration right here in their own backyard. They visited several locations throughout downtown and put their thoughts and ideas on paper!

Growing Something Special at AMS!

Today, students in Mr. Griswold’s and Mrs. Ybarra’s classes got their hands dirty and put science and geography into action!

Through Mr. Griswold’s “From World Farms to Kansas Fields” agriculture grant, students planted Dawn Redwood saplings and several varieties of evergreen seeds, learning how climate, geography, and the environment influence plant growth.

We’re excited to see these trees grow alongside our students throughout the school year!

A special thank-you to Jonsteen Trees, Dean Swift Seeds, Tree in a Box, and Johnson Garden Center for helping make this hands-on learning experience possible!

We love seeing our Bluejays learn beyond the textbook!
