It was an incredibly busy weekend. Started off on Friday in Vassalboro. I met farmers, businesspeople, retirees, small business owners, teachers and quite a few kids deep into their long summer vacations.
We talked about what we need to do to strengthen our energy grid, H1-B visas and what that means for local farmers trying to get their hay and produce in, what it's like to retire these days on a state pension, trains, redevelopment in small and large towns and cities, the wild real estate market, how thankful we all have been for the good rain and even better sunshine we've gotten this summer.
Saturday morning, I joined The China Lake Association for their annual meeting which was surprisingly informative and quite amusing at times. I don't know why I'm so surprised it was funny, because it was lake people, IYKYK.
After I hit Le Calumet Club for their summer yard sale and then over to the other side of Augusta to meet more people right at their front steps.
Sunday was Ward Pond Woods Conservation Area for a hike and a swim with my family. We are lucky in Maine to have so many excellent and well managed forests that have been conserved for wildlife and humans to enjoy.
I hope to speak to more of you as I make my way around the district this season. The conversations are always interesting and frequently add another plot point for me.
