This Wear Orange Weekend, we joined advocates, survivors, and communities across Texas in the ongoing work to prevent gun violence and create safer neighborhoods for all.
We wear orange in memory of those we have lost, in support of those impacted, and in hope for a future free from gun violence.

This Pride Month, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus celebrates the strength, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQ+ Texans across our state.
Pride is more than a celebration—it is a reminder that every person deserves to live authentically, love who they love, be treated with dignity, and have the freedom to thrive in their communities without fear, discrimination, or exclusion.
This month and every month, we honor the advocates, leaders, trailblazers, and everyday Texans whose courage continues to move our state forward.
Pride is Power. Diversity is Our Strength.
Happy Pride Month from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus. 🌈

Tonight, our hearts are heavy as we lift up the residents, families, and first responders impacted by the tragic apartment explosion and fire in Oak Cliff.
We pray for those who lost loved ones, those who were injured, those awaiting information from family members, those who have been displaced from their homes, and the emergency personnel working tirelessly in the aftermath of this tragedy.
In moments like these, Texas communities show their strength by coming together to support one another. May comfort, healing, and hope surround every family affected.
Please keep Oak Cliff in your prayers. šŸ™šŸ½
For those looking to help, follow official updates from the City of Dallas, local media outlets, and trusted community organizations for information on relief efforts, donation opportunities, and ways to support impacted families.

When we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, we honor their courage that helped shape this nation’s story and expand the promise of freedom for all.
Memorial Day began not as a national holiday, but as a sacred act of remembrance. In 1865, just weeks after the Civil War ended, formerly enslaved organized what many historians recognize as one of the earliest Memorial Day observances, honoring Union soldiers who died fighting for freedom and were buried in a Confederate prison camp mass grave.
Originally known as Decoration Day, the tradition centered on decorating the graves of fallen service members with flowers, flags, and prayers. Over time, it evolved into the Memorial Day we observe today.
We remember. We honor. We never forget.

To the Collegiate Graduate Class of 2026, we celebrate your achievement, your resilience, and the journey that brought you here. šŸŽ“
Every late night, every challenge, every sacrifice, every prayer, every moment you wanted to give up but kept going anyway brought you to this milestone. You are stepping into a world that needs your brilliance, your leadership, your creativity, and your voice.
As Malcolm X reminded us: ā€œEducation is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.ā€
Walk boldly into your next chapter knowing you carry the strength of those who came before you and the promise of those who will follow. Black excellence is not just a moment—it is a legacy.
Congratulations, graduates. The future is yours. šŸŽ“
