Texas Outdoor Family Texas Parks and Wildlife

Texas Outdoor Family Texas Parks and Wildlife Want to try camping? We can help! Check out our state-wide workshops at http://bit.ly/TOFcalndr Your support is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use!

The Texas Outdoor Family (TOF) is a Texas Parks and Wildlife program created to address a growing issue in today’s urban societies: a great number of families who are interested in spending time together in the outdoors lack the necessary skills to take an overnight camping trip and/or participate in outdoor recreation activities. Texas Outdoor Family introduces families to camping overnight in a

state park and teaches them basic skills such as setting up and breaking down camp, Dutch oven and campfire cooking, fishing, paddling, hiking, orienteering, geocaching and more. Texas Outdoor Family could not function without the generous help and support of those committed to connecting families to the outdoors. Tax deductible contributions are now being accepted and will directly help introduce families to the outdoors, and every $75 contribution supports another family’s participation. https://tpwf.ejoinme.org/MyPages/TexasOutdoorFamilyProgram/tabid/297204/Default.aspx

🐍POV: You’re trying to break down camp and the park ranger forgot to mention there would be a final inspection.

This campsite inspector stopped by while we were packing up camp at Purtis Creek State Park.

Snakes play an important role in healthy ecosystems by helping control rodent populations, and most would rather avoid people altogether.

Our advice when you encounter a snake:
👀 Observe from a distance
📸 Take a photo
🚶 Give it space

After all, seeing wildlife in its natural habitat is one of the best parts of camping in Texas!
