School Zone speeds are enforced for the safety of students and drivers. Officer Mendoza is Bangor PD's School Resource Officer and he also enforces the speed in these areas. It is not unusual for drivers he stops to be going more than 20 miles over the posted 15 mile-per-hour speed limit. For someone stopped going between 20 and 24 miles over the posted speed limit, the fine is $435.

Bigfoot was spotted at Bangor International Airport... Officer Manuel got him through security. 😆

Just another perfectly normal day at BGR. Nothing to see here. 👀😂

Officer Dave Manuel made a new friend today when Sasquatch stopped by the terminal to pick up a pal.

Naturally, Dave welcomed him to BGR. Naturally, Sasquatch had snacks. And naturally, someone made sure there was photographic evidence. 📸

Between Monty, Spuddy and now SASQUATCH, we're starting to wonder exactly what kind of unofficial transportation hub we're running around here. 😂

Safe travels, big guy.

Monty...do you know anything about this? 🫎👀

August was a busy month. For some people, statistics are just numbers - this let's you see the work that goes into these calls.

The purpose of the blotter is to inform our community of where and when our officers engage persons who are purportedly involved in criminal behavior. The blotter includes calls for service that are notably significant, criminal in nature and/or involve an arrest.

The Bangor Police Department responds to a variety of calls for service each day. This blotter includes only a portion of those calls for service.

In some instance the information has been purposely limited to safeguard the identity of the victim.

The Bangor Police Department makes every effort to produce and publish current and accurate data.

We're still a little concerned with how quickly this summer has gone by. These are the stats from August.

Here is a brief reminder of each category:

📱Calls to Dispatch: Our phone rang
📱Calls for Service: We broke this down into categories based on what was
required for the call (Police, Fire, or EMS).
🚗🚓Traffic Stops: We stopped a vehicle
⚠️Traffic Crashes: Someone crashed a vehicle

📱BCAT Calls for Service: Bangor Community Action Team responds to non-emergency calls and helps connect people to community resources. They assist the community as well as our patrol unit by freeing them up to respond to emergency calls or allowing them extra time to focus on proactive police work.

👮Criminal Charges: This category is broken down by felonies and misdemeanors. Sometimes officers have cases where someone commits multiple crimes and receives multiple charges, but the full number of charges isn't reflected here, just the number of incidents. This is a case that resulted in criminal charges and the highest level charge was either a felony or a misdemeanor.

Stat of the Month: Wanted Out - This call can be wide-ranging from a person that has become unruly in any private establishment, a visitor that is no longer welcome at a private residence, to someone loitering near the entryway of a business. These calls can be resolved with officers simply moving someone along or with an arrest.
