There was a crew of runners that participated in the Special Olympics Maine Torch Run earlier. Bangor Police teamed up with incredible runners from Hampden Public Safety and the Maine Air National Guard. . The run started at the Hermon line near the Sports Arena, traveled down Hammond Street through downtown, up State Street and ending at the Veazie Line.

Big thank you to everyone who cheered them on!

City of Bangor, Maine - City Hall City Councilor's Joseph Leonard and Susan Faloon took the time to tour the Bangor Police Department recently. Staff from various teams and divisions were on hand to answer questions about everything from specialized training, evidence collection, crime scene investigations, patrol, crime lab tools, dispatch and more. We appreciate that our City Council is interested in learning about the many varied roles at the Bangor Police Department and the challenges that we face as a community.

This is a reminder from City of Bangor, Maine - City Hall that the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge that connects Union Street in Bangor to Wilson Street in Brewer will be undergoing repairs beginning June 8th.

Signage for redirecting traffic will be in place, but we encourage motorists to seek an alternate route if they are able and leave themselves extra time as the MaineDOT makes repairs to the bridge.

Traffic alert! The Maine Department of Transportation beginning the week of June 8 will start its work on the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, shown at right in the accompanying photo.

The bridge will be restricted to one travel lane for vehicles coming from Brewer into Bangor. Signs will redirect motorists traveling from Bangor to Brewer over to the Penobscot Bridge, which is shown at left in the photo. This redirection of traffic is expected to last through the summer and into fall.

MaineDOT is resurfacing the Chamberlain Bridge deck, replacing bridge joints and conducting other structural repairs. Questions about the project can be directed to MaineDOT's Bangor office at 207-941-4500.

Here is a brief reminder of each category so we are all on the same page:

📱Calls to Dispatch: Our phone rang

📱Calls for Service: We broke this down into categories based on what was
required for the call (Police, Fire, or EMS).

🚗🚓Traffic Stops: We stopped a vehicle

⚠️Traffic Crashes: Someone crashed a vehicle

📱BCAT Calls for Service: Bangor Community Action Team responds to non-emergency calls and helps connect people to community resources. They assist the community as well as our patrol unit by freeing them up to respond to emergency calls or allowing them extra time to focus on proactive police work.

👮Criminal Charges: This category is broken down by felonies and misdemeanors. Sometimes officers have cases where someone commits multiple crimes and receives multiple charges, but the full number of charges isn't reflected here, just the number of incidents. This is a case that resulted in criminal charges and the highest level charge was either a felony or a misdemeanor.

Stat of the Month - Theft: this category is used whenever someone reports that their property has been taken large or small - this figure doesn't include motor vehicle thefts or burglary to a motor vehicle.
