Why does Michigan look the way it does? The answer is more surprising than you might think! Join us next Tuesday for our Evening Sessions Speaker Series as historian John L. Daly explores the fascinating story behind Michigan's unique shape and borders.

Discover how an inaccurate map created in 1755 helped shape the state we know today, influenced the outcome of the Toledo War, and even played a role in Michigan gaining Isle Royale National Park. It's a fascinating story with unexpected twists that changed Michigan history forever!

What a wonderful week of patriotic fun at the Bay County Library System!

Last week, our branches celebrated Independence Day with activities for all ages! Families enjoyed patriotic take-and-make crafts, snacks, civics trivia, mini Constitutions, and even had the chance to create their own keepsakes using our button maker. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate!

A special congratulations to our Auburn Branch gift basket winners! πŸŽ‰ We were thrilled to be able to raffle off three fantastic patriotic gift baskets - one each for a child, teen, and adult. Congratulations to Aliyah and Landon, who took home the children's and teen baskets, and to our adult winner!

We'd also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the John Alden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for generously donating these beautiful gift baskets. Your support helped make our celebration even more memorable for our community! β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us - we hope you had a safe, fun, fireworks-filled, and festive Fourth of July weekend! πŸ“šβœ¨
