Situated just 12 miles southeast of Cleveland, Bedford is nestled in the heart of tithe Western Reserve. "Keep Bedford Green" is on many minds during our sesquicentennial era. And while that slogan is evident throughout the community, much has transpired in these first 150 years. Today, more than 500 industries and retail businesses as well as 15,000 residents call Bedford "home". Numerous car fac

tory dealers and independents compose the impressive Bedford Automile. Thousands of cars are continuously on display in this year-round Auto Show. Aircraft, paint, furniture, and pharmaceutical products are just a few of the many manufactured items in the bustling industrial sector of Bedford. We also offer the most up to date health care facilities as well as fine police, fire and rescue departments. Community Life

It will be very warm and humid today, which will result in heat indices in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Exercise extra caution if spending prolonged time outdoors.

Rising temperatures cause serious demand on the power grid. If you can, reduce or delay energy use during the hottest portions of the day.

- Close blinds and curtains, especially on south and west-facing doors and windows to block unwanted heat.

- Raise your thermostat. If you are able, raising your thermostat even a few degrees will reduce electricity usage.

- Keep doors closed. Keep exterior doors closed to prevent warm air from coming in. If there are rooms you are not using, closing the doors and vents in those rooms will allow your AC to focus on keeping the rest of your house cooler.

- Wait to use large appliances like your dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer until later in the evening. Ideally after 8pm when the heat begins to subside.

These tips won't only help to lower your energy bill, but may help to prevent power outages due to high demand. Other steps you can take include turning off unused lights, unplugging appliances and computers that aren't being used, and delaying electric vehicle charging.
