World Helicopter Day is celebrated each year on the third Sunday in August, recognizing the incredible people and aircraft behind rotary-wing aviation around the world.

From emergency medical transport and search and rescue to law enforcement and military operations, helicopters go where traditional aircraft simply can’t.

Today, we’re proud to recognize the pilots, crews, maintainers, and professionals who keep these aircraft flying, and keep lifesaving missions moving.

Today is “Safety Tuesday” of National EMS Week and we have a message from Captain Michael Donnelly from the New Jersey State Police Aviation Bureau.

The New Jersey State Police is an integral part of the JEMSTAR program, and the Aviation Bureau reminds everyone of the importance of helicopter, medevac, and landing zone safety. Clear communication, proper preparation, and situational awareness save lives both on the ground and in the air.
