Lunch at the Library is back at Central!

Free lunch for kids and teens 18 and under on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:30 pm from June 9 to August 6.

But that's not all!

Also: join us for activities, ranging from arts and crafts with the Museum of Children's Art to cooking classes with AAVE Cafe. Activities will be announced weekly, here on social media and on our website calendar.

Youth Lit is coming to Berkeley Public Library TOMORROW, Saturday, May 30; and we are SO ready!

It is a full day of FREE author panels, read-alouds, drawing workshops, and literary fun for kids, teens, and families. No tickets, no sign-ups. Just show up.

Plant a Seed, Read! Summer Reading is coming back to Berkeley Public Library soon. 🎉

This fun summer challenge is open to everyone, all ages welcome.

You can sign up online, in person at the library, or by calling 510-981-6223. Everyone who signs up can pick up a free book at any of our branches.

Be sure to log your reading and activities throughout the summer. Complete the challenge to earn a finishing prize and virtual raffle tickets for a chance to win additional prizes. Winners will be notified after August 15.

"Cartooning Against Silence: Futile Prayers from an Undocumented Heart", curated by Oakland native and UC Berkeley Assistant Dean, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Dr. Alberto Ledesma. "Cartooning Against Silence: Futile Prayers from an Undocumented Heart" will run from May until the end of June. Dr. Ledesma shares with us drawings, sketches, illustrations and, prose that express the immigrant experience and trauma we carry.

On Tuesday, June 2 we will be hosting an artist and author talk with Q&A from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Mystery Room on the 2nd floor, Central Library.

We have an announcement.

Berkeley Public Library is looking for a fiber mascot, and we would love to have Berkeley create it.

Knitted, crocheted, sewn, felted, quilted, or anything handmade with some fiber in it. Weird, playful, and very Berkeley. No experience needed, we are specifically NOT looking for perfection.

Submissions open June 1 through June 30. All ages welcome. Solo or group entries both work.
Every eligible submission gets a participation gift package. And one mascot becomes our official social mascot.

Join us to learn about the history and cultural significance of Vietnamese tea. Come sip tea and talk with Vina Vo as we celebrate the delicious impact of this drink.
