Today, the members of the Berwick Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who never made it home.

Brian Beeler, a dedicated Deputy Fire Chief and respected member of his community, passed away 17 years ago after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Throughout his career in the fire service, Brian earned the admiration of his colleagues for his strength and knowledge in even the most challenging situations. As Deputy Fire Chief, he not only led with skill, but also mentored those around him, leaving a lasting impact on the department and the people he served alongside.

Our thoughts are with the Beeler family today.

Let’s be honest.
It’s not exactly fun picking up someone else’s litter.

But… it does feel pretty good when the road you just cleaned actually looks better.

Every April, around Earth Day, people all over town head out to clean up the spots that need it. Some of you already do this regularly, and honestly, thank you for that. This is just the week where we all join you.

The Town of Berwick Parks & Recreation's Trash Bash runs April 21 through April 26.

Pick a road, a neighborhood, or a spot that bugs you every time you drive by. Grab supplies at Town Hall between April 13 and April 21, head out when it works for you, and leave your filled bags roadside. DPW will pick them up April 27 and 28.

If you’re already out there doing this on your own, we see you. Thank you.

If not, this is a good week to give it a try. It’s strangely satisfying.

Let’s clean Berwick up, together. And keep Berwick looking like Berwick.
