🎢 Looks like Mother Nature decided to take us all for a ride this week!

Even Mother Nature knows firefighters have to be ready for anything…

🔥 One day we’re reminding everyone to stay cool in triple-digit heat…

🥶 Three days later we’re grabbing a jacket for the morning briefing!

Around here, we don’t put away our summer clothes—we just keep a sweatshirt in the truck. 😂

Stay weather-aware, enjoy the cooler temperatures, and remember… this is Montana! Who knows what tomorrow will bring! ☀️❄️

[1:30pm 8/4/2026]
We set widespread daily record highs on Saturday and then roughly 60 hours later set daily record lows! Check out how much the temperature dropped across the region!

🌡️ MONTANA HEAT TRIVIA! 🌡️

Did you know?

🔥 The hottest temperature ever officially recorded in Montana was 117°F!

That record was set:
• Glendive on July 20, 1893
• Medicine Lake on July 5, 1937 (Montana Kids)

While today’s temperatures won’t reach that level, extreme heat can still become dangerous—especially for firefighters, ranchers, outdoor workers, children, older adults, and our four-legged friends.

💧 Take frequent water breaks.
🐾 Check livestock and pets often.
🚜 Avoid parking hot equipment in dry grass.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a vehicle—not even for a minute.
🔥 Skip welding, mowing, or any activity that could spark a fire during the hottest part of the day.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and help keep Montana fire-safe! ❤️🚒

⛈️ Weather Alert for Our Area ⛈️

The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM across southeast Montana.

🌬️ Potential hazards include:
• Wind gusts up to 60+ mph
• Large hail
• Heavy rainfall
• Frequent lightning

Now is a great time to secure loose outdoor items, keep an eye on the weather, and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts. If you’re working outside or traveling today, stay weather aware and be prepared to seek shelter if storms develop.

As always, if you see downed power lines, avoid the area and report them immediately. Stay safe, everyone! 🚒⚡

[421am 7/30/26]: Showers and weak thunderstorms will gradually shift east through the morning hours. By this afternoon, some storms may be strong to severe over the east. The main threat is wind up to 60 mph, although heavy rain and hail are also possible.

07/26/2026

[556am 7/26/26]: Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move across the area this afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms could be strong, with wind the main threat.
