As we “fall back” this weekend, take a few minutes to make sure your home is ready:

🔋 Replace the batteries in your smoke alarms.
🚨 Test every smoke alarm to make sure it’s working.
🏠 Make sure you have smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Review your family’s fire escape plan and practice it.

🚨❤️ HAPPY NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY! ❤️🚨

Today, we honor the brave men and women who answer the call, often leaving their families, putting their own safety on the line, and stepping into situations most people run from when the tone drops.

To our firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and all first responders: THANK YOU. Thank you for the long nights, the missed holidays, the sacrifices nobody sees, and the courage it takes to show up when others need you most.

Behind every uniform is a person with a family, a life, and a heart dedicated to serving others. The job isn’t always easy, and not every call ends the way we hope, but you continue to answer the call anyway. ❤️

Just a little reminder for everyone.

We want to keep everyone safe.

🍂 With fall mating season underway and the upcoming time change, drivers need to be extra cautious on our roadways!

Deer are becoming more active, especially around dawn and dusk. As daylight saving time ends, more drivers will be traveling during the darker morning and evening hours, increasing the risk of deer-related accidents.

🚗 PLEASE REMEMBER:

🦌 SLOW DOWN: Be especially alert on rural roads, near wooded areas, and along fields.

🦌 WATCH FOR MORE THAN ONE: Deer often travel in groups. If you see one, others may be nearby.

🦌 USE CAUTION: Watch the shoulders of the road for movement and glowing eyes.

🦌 BRAKE, DON’T SWERVE: If a deer suddenly enters your path, brake firmly while maintaining control of your vehicle. Avoid suddenly swerving into oncoming traffic, trees, or ditches.

🦌 STAY ALERT: Put away distractions and give yourself extra time to react.

⚠️ Remember: A collision with a deer can happen in seconds. Your safety and the safety of others on the road come first!

🚒 Slow Down • Stay Alert • Arrive Alive!

We gave out 476 fire and life safety goodie bags tonight.
Thanks to all who helped pack up the bags and donated candy.
Also a big thanks to the park rangers for allowing us to setup and for the bags.

🚒❤️ WE’RE MORE THAN JUST YOUR LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT — WE’RE YOUR NEIGHBORS. ❤️🚒

Out here in Burton, near the Tenn-Tom Waterway and just down the road from Piney Grove Campground on Bay Springs Lake, life moves a little differently. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way. 🇺🇸🌾

You might see us picking up something at Burton Store, enjoying a meal at Uncle J’s Grill on the weekend, or gathering with neighbors at the old Burton Schoolhouse. We’re not just firefighters. We’re parents, grandparents, daughters, sons, farmers, friends, and everyday folks with a big heart for this little corner of the world we call home.

We don’t need skyscrapers, shopping centers, or a whole lot of hustle and bustle. ❤️

The only things we want to see growing around here are…

🌱 Families putting down roots.
🚜 Crops growing in the fields.
🐄 Farm critters roaming the pastures.
⛪ More people filling the church pews.
❤️ Bigger hearts, stronger friendships, and more love throughout our community.

We love the quiet country roads, familiar faces, helping hands, and the kind of neighbors who show up when someone needs them. That’s what makes this place special. And when the tones drop, we put everything else aside and answer the call — because protecting the people and the place we love is what we do.
