With 500 T workers plus 300 contractors, we maximized the work we accomplished during our 11-day Orange Line diversion. By performing preventative maintenance and upgrades, we're both bringing infrastructure into a state of good repair and modernizing it for faster, smoother service.

in 1897, transit history was made with the opening of America's first subway - the Tremont Street Subway. The tunnel and its original Boylston and Park Street stations are still used in service today at the heart of our Green Line. Over the next year, we will spotlight historic milestones like this, leading up to our 130th anniversary celebration in 2027.

Continuous improvements. Behind every diversion is our never-ending commitment to maintaining and bettering our system for our riders. On the Orange Line, that means updating signals and tracks so we can increase operating speeds to 55mph across more sections of the line in the near future.

Through September 25, we're seeking input on ways to better connect neighborhoods, increase transit access and reliability, enhance safety, and meet travel demands around Sweetser Circle. in 1955, the Green Line’s Science Park station opened for service. The in-fill station was built atop the Lechmere Viaduct, which was originally constructed in 1912. Science Park was named in honor of the newly opened Museum of Science closeby. The station was most recently rebuilt in 2011.
