It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of former Brentwood Union School District Superintendent Dr. J. Douglas Adams, the namesake of Adams Middle School. Doug was a foundational figure in Brentwood education whose leadership, vision, and commitment to students helped shape our district and community for generations of students. A proud graduate of Brentwood schools and Liberty High School, he dedicated his life to serving students, families, and educators. During his 17 years as superintendent, BUSD grew from three schools serving 1,400 students to ten schools serving more than 8,000 students. We are deeply grateful to Doug’s family for sharing him with this community for so many years, and we extend our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to them during this difficult time.
We want to thank the Brentwood Press for publishing a tribute to Doug, written by current Superintendent Dr. Dana Eaton, honoring his extraordinary impact on Brentwood schools and the community. Please use the link below to access Dr. Eaton's tribute.
