81-year-old Don Pimentel with reported dementia left his residence some time yesterday morning after his wife left for work and has not been heard or seen from since. Don lives at 19895 Carpenterville RD and they have over 100 acres, so it is unknown if he is still on their property or if he has wondered elsewhere. The subject has a small brown and black dog with him. It is unknown exactly what time he left yesterday or what direction he is walking in. No clothing description provided. Subject reported is 6’5”200lbs has brown and grey hair. If located please contact dispatch at 541-247-3242 extension 9 thank you! Today, Deputies,SAR, neighbors and friends searched the entire property and surrounding roads without finding Don. Search efforts will continue.

Fire Season Increases to High on Monday

The fire danger level on lands protected by Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) District will increase to High (Yellow) Monday, July 20th, at 12:01 a.m. Industrial Fire Precaution Levels (IFPL) will remain at Level 1 in CS1 and CS4, and Level 2 in CS2, CS5, SK1 and SK2. Lands affected by this declaration include state, private, county, unincorporated towns, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) forestlands in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties.

Beginning Monday, July 20th, at 12:01 AM, the following public fire restrictions will be adjusted:
Campfires, cooking fires, warming fires and other open fires are only allowed at designated, Hosted, and Managed Campgrounds.
Non-Industrial power saw use allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Cutting, grinding and welding of metal is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Mowing dried, cured grass is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Any other spark emitting internal combustion engines not previously mentioned is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.

All other public fire restrictions will remain in effect.

Lands affected by this declaration include state, private, county, city and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) forestlands in Coos, Curry, and Western Douglas counties.

Beginning Tuesday, June 16th at 12:01 AM, the following public fire restrictions will be adjusted:

Fire Season on CFPA-Protected Lands Begins June 1st, 2026

Fire season on lands protected by Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) District begins Monday, June 1st, at 12:01 a.m. The fire danger level will be “LOW” (green) and the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) will be level 1 (one) district wide.

Lands affected by this declaration include state, private, county, city and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) forestlands in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties.
Beginning on Monday, the burning of debris piles and the use of burn barrels for burning debris will no longer be allowed in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties. Public Regulated Use Restriction “low” (green) will also be in effect.
