We are grateful to our incredible partners at Asian Americans for Equality for teaming up with us to provide a workshop at our Multi-Social Services Center! They broke down the heavy realities of HR 1 and what these federal changes mean for everyone relying on SNAP and Medicaid.

We appreciate all the community members who attended to learn and to get ahead of the upcoming changes, especially the Medicaid work requirements kicking off January 1, 2027, and the 20-hour weekly work rules for maintaining SNAP benefits.

We are proud to stand alongside AAFE to make sure our community stays informed and prepared!

Homecrest Community Services was proud to come together with the Cpc Brooklyn Community Services, Perlmutter Cancer Center Radiation Oncology at NYU Langone, and Blood Cancer United for a wonderful day celebrating community, culture, healthy aging, and connection.

The room was filled with the sound of Mahjong tiles, laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of excitement as older adults gathered around the tables to enjoy both Cantonese and Fuzhounese Mahjong.

For many of our older adults, Mahjong is much more than a game. It is part of our cultural tradition, a way to exercise the mind, strengthen strategic thinking, build friendships, and stay socially connected. Seeing so many participants enjoying themselves together was truly heartwarming.

We were especially grateful to our health partners for being on-site to provide important education and resources on cancer prevention, early detection, and screening services. Bringing health information directly into a familiar and welcoming community setting is one of the ways we can help older adults feel more comfortable accessing the resources they need.

Congratulations to our Mahjong winners! But beyond the competition, the biggest win was seeing our community laughing, learning, connecting, and enjoying the day together.

This is what community partnership looks like—combining culture, health, friendship, and fun to create meaningful experiences for our older adults.

We are incredibly grateful to share the success of our Fresh Produce Distribution on August 7.

This was about so much more than handing out bags of fresh fruits and vegetables. It was about caring for our older adults, supporting one another, and reminding our community that no one should feel alone or forgotten.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our 23 amazing volunteers who gave their time, energy, and hearts to make this possible. From packing and organizing to welcoming older adults and carrying bags of produce, every helping hand made a difference. Seeing different generations working side by side was especially meaningful—it is a beautiful reminder that community has no age limit.

We were deeply honored to welcome Ryan Murray, Executive Deputy Commissioner & Chief Program Officer of NYC Department for the Aging, along with members of the NYC Aging team, who didn't simply come to visit—they rolled up their sleeves and worked alongside us throughout the distribution. That kind of hands-on support means so much to our staff, volunteers, and older adults.

We were also grateful to welcome Council Member Susan Zhuang, Chair of the NYC Council Committee on Aging, who stopped by to encourage our volunteers and spend time with our older adults. Thank you for continuing to stand with and advocate for our community.

Behind every bag of produce is an older adult, a family, and a story. At a time when the cost of everyday necessities continues to place pressure on so many households, being able to bring fresh, healthy food directly into the hands of our older adultsmeans more than we can express.

There’s nothing quite as special as the fresh, big dreams and excitement that come with a new school year! We asked our neighbors what they are most looking forward to as they step into this new chapter.

Thank you to Council Member Susan Zhuang and Assemblyman William Colton for bringing this block party to the community on August 23rd. There will be school supplies, live performances, giveaways, community resources, and—best of all—a fun DOG PAGEANT you won't want to miss, along with many more exciting activities! 🐶 + ✏️📚

In many cultures, dumplings are far more than just a delicious dish! 🥟🥢

It is a powerful symbol of unity, happiness, and blessings. By coming together to share meals from different regions, we deepened our bonds and celebrated the rich diversity that makes our community so special!

Thank you to everyone who came out to share in the joy and try our handmade dumplings! We were deeply honored to be joined by such incredible leaders and supporters who make our community thrive: Senator Steve Chan, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke's office, Assembly Member William Colton's office, Council Member Susan Zhuang's office, and Gigi from Aetna, our exclusive sponsor!

Thank you to NYPD 61st Precinct for putting on a phenomenal National Night Out event yesterday and for your ongoing dedication to our community!

It was great seeing our SYEP chat with everyone who stopped by, and the Spin the Wheel game stayed busy with people winning prizes all afternoon.

The standout moment for us was watching our Sheepshead Bay dance group perform their cultural dance. They did an incredible job and really captured the crowd's attention!

As always, we appreciate the chance to connect with the neighborhood like this! ❤️

We had a fantastic time participating in National Night Out with NYPD 62nd Precinct.

Our SYEP and volunteers did an amazing job welcoming the neighbors, and the body art stickers were a huge hit with kids and adults alike! It was nice to see so many people rocking them while checking out the festivities.

Thank you to the 62nd Precinct for putting together such an empowering evening dedicated to safety! We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the community.
