Training together, responding stronger.

Today, our crews participated in a multi-agency exercise alongside Sumter and Citrus Counties, focusing on Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) operations. These collaborative training opportunities strengthen regional partnerships, enhance interoperability, and ensure we are prepared to respond effectively to complex emergencies.

Thank you to all participating agencies and personnel for their dedication to training and readiness.

HCFR received a call the evening of Memorial Day for a sick, immobile and pregnant cow that was under small pen for at least 1 day. The owners of the cow were unable to move her and requested the assistance of fire/rescue. Crews arrived on scene and utilized their large animal rescue skills to make the cow comfortable before carefully extricating from the pen. Firefighters were successfully able to move the cow out of the pen, and under a shaded tree so the veterinarian could assess in better conditions. The cow is currently doing better little by little. Excellent job to the crews involved.
