Disaster Recovery Assistance Available for Dallas County Residents & Businesses

If your home, business, rental property, or nonprofit organization was damaged during the April 23–28, 2026 severe storms, tornadoes, large hail, straight-line winds, or flooding, you may qualify for low-interest disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Prolonged Heat This Week

The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory through Saturday evening for our area.

Heat index values are expected to reach around 100–105 degrees each day, with warm overnight lows in the 70s. This means your body may not get much relief overnight.

Please take heat safety seriously:

Limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.
Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade.
Check on older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and anyone without reliable cooling.
Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in a vehicle.
Bring pets indoors or make sure they have shade and plenty of fresh water.

Know the warning signs:

Heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, headache.
Heat stroke: confusion, fainting, very high body temperature, or hot/dry skin. Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911.

There is also a low-end chance for showers and thunderstorms this weekend, but heat remains the main concern.
