Just a reminder - BTC Bank will be partnering with the Bison Booster Club on Friday, October 16th to host the Homecoming Football Tailgate from 5-7 PM at the Buffalo High School Football Field. Plates will cost $5.

To celebrate the end of the first quarter, and Homecoming Week, a generous community member provided a free lunch to our DCR1 Staff from "The Hot Dog Lady" food cart! The cart visited Mallory on Tuesday, BPMS on Wednesday, and BHS on Thursday.

Thank you to our generous community member, as well as the Hot Dog Lady food cart! Our staff deserves all the appreciation they can get!

NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR BUFFALO HIGH SCHOOL NHS!

We are proud to announce that the Buffalo High School National Honor Society (NHS) Chapter has been named a 2026 NHS Chapter of Distinction for its outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to making a positive impact on our school and community!

Since becoming a member of the National Honor Society in 1985, our chapter has continued to make a difference through meaningful service projects, including Stockings for Santa, which provides Christmas stockings and gift bags for foster children in Dallas County, and creating Easter cards for local nursing home residents. In addition, each NHS member completes more than 15 hours of volunteer service annually!

This national award recognizes chapters that exemplify the values of NHS through leadership, academic excellence, and a dedication to serving others.

Congratulations to our NHS students and chapter sponsor, Amy Schneider, for this well-deserved recognition! Thank you for representing Buffalo High School!

This morning, Buffalo High School, DCTC, and Mallory Elementary participated in the yearly earthquake drill, while Buffalo Prairie Middle School completed their yearly earthquake drill on Tuesday, October 13th.

These drills help ensure that every member of our staff and student body can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency, keeping everyone as safe as possible.

Thank you to all staff for helping make this a smooth and effective experience!

Just a reminder about the BHS Homecoming Parade on October 16th!

🎉 The Homecoming Parade is back! 🎉

We’re excited to announce that our annual Homecoming Parade will return this year on Friday, October 16, 2026!

📅 Friday, October 16
⏰ Parade begins at 1:45 p.m.
📍 Float lineup begins at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until approximately 1:15 p.m.

We’re especially excited to partner with Colonial Springs and The Buffalo Prairie Care Center this year! We look forward to bringing the sights, sounds, and excitement of Homecoming to residents and giving them the opportunity to once again be part of this special community tradition.

Parade staging will take place in the north parking lot at Buffalo High School on Main Street, with float lineup beginning at 11:00 a.m. The parade will first travel through the high school circle drive before beginning the regular parade route.

Our BPMS students will also join us at the high school for the Homecoming assembly and sendoff before the parade. Just a reminder: the Homecoming assembly is a student-only activity. 🙂

We can’t wait to celebrate Homecoming with our students, staff, families, residents, and the entire community!

This morning, the BHS Field House welcomed over 60 colleges and businesses for our annual College and Career Fair! BHS and DCTC sending school juniors and seniors had the opportunity to connect with college recruiters and potential future employers as they explore their next steps after graduation.

We are incredibly thankful to all the colleges, businesses, and DCR1 staff who took the time to invest in our students and help make this event a success!

Buffalo Prairie Middle School's own Ashley Akins was the recipient of a SWRTA $500 classroom grant to use as part of her "A Long Walk to Water" unit.

She is pictured with Southwest Region President, Angie Cicalla at the Fall Fling on September 21.
