⚾️ **Three groups. Three Braves games. One incredibly generous gift.** 💙❤️

Our third and final group of **Call of the Year** recipients officially got their turn to enjoy a night at Truist Park! ⚾️

What started during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week as an incredibly generous surprise from the **Atlanta Braves Foundation** turned into three special outings for our dispatchers through their **Dream Seats Program**.

With so many recipients recognized for Call of the Year this year, the Braves Foundation went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the opportunity to attend a game — even working with us after the first group's original game was rained out! 💜

And now, with our final group having enjoyed their night at the ballpark, we just want to say one more HUGE **thank you to the Atlanta Braves Foundation** for making all of this possible.

Our dispatchers spend their days and nights behind the headset, rarely getting to see where the calls they handle may lead. Being recognized for their work is special enough, but being given an opportunity to step away, spend time together, and simply enjoy a Braves game made that recognition even sweeter. 💛

Thank you for recognizing our 9-1-1 professionals and for giving our **Call of the Year recipients** an experience they'll remember long after the final out. ⚾️

Three years of tricks, treats, and first responder fun! 🚨🍬

Gordon County E9-1-1's 3rd Annual First Responder Meet & Treat is officially on the calendar, and we're getting ready for another SPOOKTACULAR Halloween night!

📅 Saturday, October 31st
⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 100 Nine One One Blvd., Calhoun, GA

Grab those costumes, bring the kiddos, and come spend Halloween with your local 9-1-1 crew! 🖤💛

We'll have plenty of candy, decorated emergency vehicles, first responders, and Halloween fun for the whole family. And this is only the beginning — over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing more about who will be joining us and what you can expect at this year's Meet & Treat! 🚓🚒🚑

🎃 AND SPEAKING OF TRADITIONS…
We've heard a little rumor that our E9-1-1 Shift Pumpkin Decorating Contest might be making its return this year. 👀

If you've been around for our previous Meet & Treats, you know our shifts take their pumpkin decorating very seriously 😂 — and YOU get to help decide who earns the bragging rights!

Last night, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners took time during their work session to recognize one of our own again, Kaitlyn Giorgione, for being selected as the Georgia APCO Telecommunications Officer of the Month for August 2026.

While we previously shared the exciting news of Kaitlyn's statewide recognition, we are incredibly grateful to our County Commissioners for recognizing her service in front of our community.

Our Director had this to say about Kaitlyn:
"In the words of Britney Spears, “Oops... We did it again!”
Two months in a row, we have had a Gordon County Communications Officer recognized by the State of Georgia!
We are honored to recognize Kaitlyn Giorgione as the August Georgia APCO Communications Officer of the Month.
Kaitlyn has grown tremendously during her time here at Gordon County as a Communications Officer. She is a strong dispatcher, call taker, and team player.
But what stands out the most is that she continues to strive to improve herself every day. Like many people working in a demanding profession, Kaitlyn has experienced moments that have challenged her outlook and mindset. Through those experiences, she has learned the importance of not allowing difficult circumstances to influence the kind of teammate or person she wants to be.
She has intentionally worked on developing her leadership skills by encouraging and lifting those around her in a positive way. Kaitlyn has learned how to effectively “steer the conversation” when needed, redirecting discussions in a more productive and positive direction.
Kaitlyn also brings something incredibly valuable to her shift: lightness. Her coworkers have faced heavy burdens in their personal lives, and Kaitlyn has a way of lightening that load through her goofiness, laughter, and positive spirit. She is an absolute ray of sunshine and brings joy to the entire team.
Kaitlyn, I am beyond proud of the employee and Communications Officer you are and the person you have grown to be. But what I am most proud of is the mentor and the light you have chosen to be for our center.

Congratulations, Kaitlyn, on being named the August Georgia APCO Communications Officer of the Month!"

Those qualities are what earned her this prestigious recognition from Georgia APCO.
Congratulations again, Kaitlyn! Your Gordon County E9-1-1 family is incredibly proud of you and grateful for the heart you pour into serving our community each and every day.

❤️⚡ Hey, Gordon County! Remember last week when we showed you our brand-new AED?!

Well… there’s one important piece of information we left out. 👀

If your business, church, school, organization, or facility has an AED, we need to know where it is!

And as of July 1, 2026, there’s actually a law behind that request.

Georgia’s new Mason Sells AED Coordination Act requires those who possess and maintain an AED to notify their appropriate 9-1-1 center of its existence and location before it is placed into use.

But why does 9-1-1 need to know where your AED is????

Because when someone suffers a cardiac arrest, seconds matter.

If our telecommunicators know an AED is located at the scene, we can help callers locate it quickly while emergency responders are on the way. The Act also expands training requirements for Georgia communications officers to include instructions that help facilitate AED use during these emergencies.

📍 That’s where you come in!

Gordon County E9-1-1 has created a quick AED registration form so we can begin identifying AED locations throughout our county.

Today, we pause to remember. 🇺🇸

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders, dispatchers, public safety professionals, and everyday citizens who answered unimaginable tragedy with courage and selflessness.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their sacrifice, their bravery, and the unity that followed.

We will never forget.

Last week on September 3, we participated in a hazardous materials full-scale exercise along with some of our partnering agencies: Gordon EMS , Calhoun Fire Department , The City of Calhoun Police Department , Gordon County Emergency Management Agency , Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency , AdventHealth Gordon , and Calhoun Schools EMR Students

These drills provide so much value to what we do for this community. The opportunity to learn and grow while being able to effectively collaborate with the agencies we work with on a daily basis is truly what we love to do!

One of the best benefits of this training for 911 was after the exercise was complete, when we came together for the "hot wash". This gave us a new perspective on issues that the field units deal with during real emergencies. Being able to see it first hand is something that we never get to be a part of, so for us these drills are truly a knowledge gaining experience.

While 911 is not directly in the field, we want to be prepared no matter what, to make sure that the units we dispatch for and the community we dispatch for stay as safe as possible. Continuing education is the best way to ensure this safety!

Gordon County Emergency Management Agency said it best:

"At the end of the day, that is what preparedness is all about: learning, improving, and working together so we can serve the citizens of Gordon County to the very best of our abilities."

We are so glad to be a part of such an amazing county! Our First Responders truly do love and care for this community in a way that most could never understand. We could not be more proud to call Gordon County our home, and we will strive to improve ourselves each and every day for the citizens of this county we serve!

So OF COURSE we have to give you a little Theo update 🐈🐾

Our furriest dispatcher has been doing EXACTLY what we expect him to be doing....

Looking cute and causing chaos!! 🤪

Our Dispatchers love to decorate our windows for all sorts of occasions. And OBVIOUSLY it's time for Halloween! 🎃👻
So naturally Theo has to "supervise" to make sure that it is being done correctly.
*Side note: he's not that thrilled about the little doggy in the window 😂 but we are lovers of all animals here, so Theo will just have to deal!

Along with his supervision duties, Theo of course has to have his multiple naps. With such a stressful job, this spoiled little baby says that he desperately needs all the sleep he can get!

We guess we'll let him continue on.

THEN we found Theo in the bathroom sink 🤦🏼‍♀️
At this point we stop asking questions... He's just Theo being Theo!

And of course, Theo has to keep our Boss in line! 😉
That or he's tattling on all of us for not giving him treats anytime he wants them! 😂

We'll keep on with our Theo updates periodically! Just know that he's very loved and very spoiled. 💜

❤️⚡ When Seconds Matter, Preparation Matters.
Gordon County E9-1-1 recently added an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to our communications center — and, naturally, Theo made sure installation was completed under proper supervision. 🐾😂
While we hope it is something we never have to use, having an AED readily available can make a critical difference during a cardiac emergency.
And that got us thinking about something you can help us with.
📍 Does your business, church, school, organization, gym, or other facility have an AED? We want to know where it is.
When someone calls 911 during a cardiac emergency, every second matters. If our Telecommunicators already know that an AED is available at that location — and where inside the building it can be found — we can help callers locate it quickly while emergency responders are on the way.
That means less time searching.
Less time wondering whether an AED is available.
And more time focused on helping the person who needs it.
Time saves lives — and having the right information before an emergency happens can save valuable time when it matters most.
We’ve created a quick online form for businesses and organizations throughout Gordon County to tell us about AEDs located in their facilities. The information can then be added to our system and made available to our Telecommunicators should an emergency occur at that location.
