We officially congratulate our newest Firefighter/EMT, Carson Birk, who has been diligently working to obtain his EMT license. Carson has been part of our Fire Cadet program since 2024 and is an excellent example of the awesome opportunity that program provides to help aspiring applicants obtain their certifications.

It is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of former
Fire Chief Gene Hindman. He served his community on the Cape Girardeau Fire Department from 1960 to 1992. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife-Donna Jo, his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

This week, we have been celebrating EMS Week, honoring our partners and fellow lifesavers that work in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Here in Cape Girardeau, we partner with Cape County Private Ambulance to provide transportation to the hospital and we appreciate all they do to continue the great patient care we start at the scene of your emergency.

C Crew recently participated in scheduled training alongside the newly appointed Director of Public Safety for St. Francis, Brad Dillow. This included a detailed walkthrough covering fireground operations, building systems, and critical fire safety considerations.
As many may recall, Brad ended his 30 year fire service career as a Battalion Chief with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department. His insight and leadership added exceptional depth to the training.

We extend our appreciation to St. Francis Hospital for their continued partnership and commitment to supporting firefighter training and community safety.

Despite tougher economic times, many supporters - both big and small - have contributed to our department with cash, meals, water, and products. We truly appreciate you all.

On this National Police Week 2026, we want to recognize our brothers and sisters in blue who work together with us to manage complex incidents, such as this recent vehicle accident requiring extrication of the occupants. We couldn’t do our job without the always outstanding help of the Cape Girardeau Police Department!
