How did you spend your Cinco de Mayo and International Firefighters Day?!

The Junior Firefighters of Carmel continued to build on their foundation of knowledge pertaining to self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) use and confidence. With the assistance of Maine Fire Service Institutes SCBA Air Management Trailer, the Juniors were able to navigate through simulated obstacles and confined spaces with little to no visibility.

Our Junior Firefighters train weekly on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm and they frequently accompany the adults on Tuesday nights.

The Carmel Fire Department’s Junior Program offers a unique opportunity to learn valuable life-saving skills whilst building lifelong friendships.

For more information, please reach out to us via Facebook or call the Fire Station at 207-848-5051 and ask for William Crowley.

We would also like to thank Kim and Jeff Davis for providing the meals this week for our Juniors!

How did you spend your Sunday?

The Junior Firefighters of Carmel gave the Senior Firefighters a run for their money!

Firefighters spent the morning sharpening their skills on Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) use, utilizing props and drills to simulate realistic obstacles that we face in the field of Firefighting.

Do you have a 13-18 year-old that’s interested in serving their community? Come and see what we’re all about!

By Owen Kingsley December 30, 2021 Maine (WABI) - Maine’s fire departments are facing critical staffing shortages. “When I started here in 1995, we had a roster of 25. Currently, we are down to 11 staff in total. That includes two full time firefighters,” said Pete Metcalf, the Veazie Fire…

Maine's firefighter shortage is part of a national problem, but the state's size, rural makeup and aging population complicate matters — and the solutions are proving elusive.

Carmel Fire joined along side several of our mutual aid departments in live burn training!
We were able to put on 8 evolutions of live burns which made it so that all the groups were given a chance to have different roles including: fire attack, search, and backup.
For some of our firefighters this was their first real chance to train and see real burns which is what makes this training so important for us.

Thank you Newburgh Fire And Rescue for inviting us to use your training grounds, and as always it was a pleasure working with Newburgh fire and Levant Fire & Rescue
