As temperatures rise, spending time around water becomes one of the best ways to cool off. Before you dive in, remember to follow the ABCs of Water Safety to help keep your family safe all summer long.

A – Adult Supervision: Always keep children within arm's reach when they're in or near water.
B – Barriers: Use fences with self-closing, self-latching gates to help prevent unsupervised access to pools.
C – Classes: Enroll in swimming lessons and learn CPR—it could save a life.

A little preparation goes a long way toward a safe and fun summer!

CGFD is excited to see that the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) has announced this year’s Fire Prevention Week’s safety theme: “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower.”
Throughout Fire Prevention Week (October 4–10), the Casa Grande Fire Department will be sharing safety tips, educational resources, and fun activities for all ages. We can't wait to bring this important message to our schools, businesses, and community!

Recently, CGFD visited Thrive Academy, where students learned important fire safety lessons and got an up-close look at a fire engine.

Arizona's monsoon season runs from June through September, bringing increased humidity and the potential for dangerous weather conditions, including thunderstorms, heavy rain, lightning, hail, strong winds, flash flooding, dust storms, and extreme heat.

This week CGFD is focusing on dust storms. According to ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) when faced with low- or zero-visibility conditions, pull your vehicle off the road as far to the right as possible. Turn off your lights, set the parking brake, and take your foot off the brake pedal. These steps reduce the chances that other drivers mistake your vehicle as the one to follow.

Last Saturday, Casa Grande Fire Department hosted an Intern Academy for prospective recruits who successfully advanced through the interview process.

The academy provides candidates with an opportunity to demonstrate their physical fitness, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities in a challenging, hands-on environment. These skills are essential to the fire service and help identify individuals who are prepared to meet the demands of serving our community.

We appreciate the hard work and dedication displayed by all participants and look forward to watching these promising recruits continue through the hiring process. Good luck to everyone who took part in the academy!

A special thank-you to Premier Cardiovascular Center for allowing the Casa Grande Fire Department to use their facility for our annual firefighter physicals.
Annual physicals are an important part of ensuring our firefighters remain healthy, fit, and ready to serve our community. We greatly appreciate their partnership, hospitality, and commitment to supporting the health and wellness of our firefighters.
As a token of our appreciation, Fire Chief Kean and Battalion Chief Finucane recently presented Premier Cardiovascular Center with a special thank-you plaque in recognition of their outstanding support provided to our department.

Heatstroke can happen fast to anyone, at any age—and it can be deadly.

Never leave a child or pet in a vehicle, even for a minute. Cracking the windows does little to reduce the temperature inside a car, which can rise dangerously in just minutes. Five tips that can save a life.

1. Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle.
2. Place a personal item (purse, phone, briefcase, or shoe) in the back seat as a reminder.
3. Keep vehicles locked when parked and store keys and remote entry devices out of children's reach.
4. Teach children that vehicles are not play areas.
5. If a child is missing, check pools, vehicles, and other nearby hazards immediately.

If you see a child or pet alone in a hot vehicle, call 911 right away!
