🏆 Arizona Parks and Recreation Association President's Award: Congratulations Brandon Washington & George Tole! 🏆

We're thrilled to celebrate Brandon Washington, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Casa Grande, and George Tole, Recreation Coordinator II at Freestone Recreation Center for the Town of Gilbert, recipients of this year's APRA President's Award!

As Co-Chairs of this year's APRA Conference, Brandon and George led the charge in delivering the organization's most successful conference yet — welcoming a record-breaking 712 attendees, the highest turnout in APRA history.

Their leadership brought meaningful changes across the conference experience:

🎤 General Session — moved to earlier during conference to kick it off
🏢 Exhibit Hall & Open Space Area — changed layout to enhance/elevate partner and vendor connections
⛳ Golf Tournament — moved to Sunday evening golf

Thanks to their dedication and hard work a long with the rest of the conference committee, APRA members across the state came together for a conference that set a new standard — and a new record.

Congratulations, Brandon and George, on this well-deserved honor! 🎉

👻 Haunted Hayride: BACK with two entrances for shorter lines!
🚗 Premier Parking: Available for purchase (no fright though free parking will still be available!)
🍬 Trick-or-Treat Village: Featuring the local businesses and nonprofits you know and love

🏆 The City of Casa Grande wins Arizona Parks and Recreation Association Outstanding Cultural Awareness Program for 2026! 🏆

We're proud to celebrate this recognition for Día de Los Niños — a tradition that dates back to 1924 in Mexico and has grown into a beloved celebration of family, community, and the joy of childhood, cherished throughout Mexico and Latin American communities everywhere, including right here in Casa Grande.

This year, Día de Los Niños transformed into a dynamic, multi-zone experience for the whole community:

🦕 Dinos at Día — fossil digs and hands-on exploration
🔬 Learn & Play Zone — STEAM activities and recreation-led games
🎪 Carnival Fun Field — classic attractions and booths from 30+ community partners
🛍️ Children's Entrepreneurial Market — 30 youth vendors showcasing their own creations
🎭 Cultural Performances — honoring multiple traditions

With over 1,500 attendees, this event delivers something our community truly needs: free, inclusive, and culturally meaningful programming that brings families together and builds community pride.

Thank you to our incredible partners, volunteers, and staff for making this celebration possible — and congratulations to everyone who helped make this an award-winning program! 🎉

Celebrate Grandparents Day with a special joint program hosted by the Dorothy Powell Senior Center and the Casa Grande Main Library! Storytime families are encouraged to bring their grandparents for a morning treat at Donut Tuesday (9:00 AM-10 AM) at the Senior Center, 405 E. 6th Street, followed by storytime, a craft, and playgroup (10:00 AM) at the Casa Grande Main Library, 449 N. Drylake St.

At 1:00 PM, grandparents and their grandchildren are invited back to the Senior Center for a special Tea Party!
