👏🏻From day one, Sub-Zero showed Cedar Rapids exactly who they are: first class. Not just in the products they build, but in the way they value people.

We cut the ribbon yesterday on their beautiful new facility that represents jobs and investment AND a company that believes in quality, craftsmanship, and creating a workplace where people matter.

Proud to welcome Sub-Zero to Cedar Rapids and proud to see them become part of the momentum happening across our city. 🏆

‼️Mental health matters in every community.

I’m proud to stand alongside fellow mayors and Okpara Rice with Tanager to help break the stigma and encourage conversations around wellness, resilience, and support. 💙

Strong communities aren’t built by pretending people don’t struggle. They’re built by making sure people know they don’t have to struggle alone.

Grateful to join fellow mayors from Marion, Hiawatha, and Mount Vernon in recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month and supporting the important work happening every day to help individuals and families across our region.

Together, we RISE. ✨

‼️Year 5 (for me!) is the year of "going vertical!" 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

So many of the projects that have been in the works, created, imagined, studied are GOING UP.

When it came time to create flood control near the Tree of Five Seasons, designers saw more than just a flood wall.

As is the case with most of our flood protection, it's a water barrier AND an amenity.

Flood protection in plain sight.❤️

Construction is now underway on a new and improved Tree of Five Seasons Park between 1st Street NE and the river downtown. The project features a plaza and pedestrian promenade; an outlook over the river; a riverside access trail; and at the center of it all, a relocated Tree of Five Seasons sculpture.

Even 1st Street NE itself is changing. The longtime one-way street between First Avenue and Interstate 380 is being completely rebuilt into a two-way street that runs alongside the new park, with additional area for pedestrians built in.

I'm so proud of our city leaders, engineers, builders, dreamers & doers. That includes YOU, the taxpayer. You wanted flood protection but didn't want to be walled off from the Cedar. Well played, CR!

“They align very well with our advanced manufacturing identity here,” Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell said. “And Cedar Rapids, you’re a really easy city to sell. We’re doubling a facility and employment before it’s even officially opened its doors. That’s a win.”

Cedar Rapids continues to experience a manufacturing boom. Even before Sub-Zero starts operations in its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility just off Interstate 380, the company is planning another impressive expansion. Sub-Zero announced a $196.3 million expansion of its new Cedar Rapids fa...
