I keep hearing the same attack on Zach Lahn: “𝐇𝐞’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚.” “𝐇𝐞’𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐧.”
So let's talk about it.
Zach was 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚. 𝐇𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. Like thousands of Iowa kids, he left the state for college and eventually built a career outside Iowa.
Then, in 2014, he purchased his great-grandparents’ family farm in Belle Plaine, rebuilt it, and ultimately moved back home to Iowa.
𝐒𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐧?
When he went to college? When he took a job somewhere else?
My parents retired to Florida. Guess what? They're still Iowans. My mom is actually a Nebraskan at heart—those are her roots. Moving doesn't erase where you come from.
Zach has children in Kansas from his first marriage. And yes, he travels back to Kansas to be there for ball games, concerts, dinner and the everyday things that matter to his kids. Fortunately, aviation runs in his family and flying has been a lifelong passion, so Kansas isn't exactly a world away.
Somehow that's supposed to be a knock against him?
To me, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐝.
I recently attended a Rob Sand town hall, and I'll give him this: he's good. He knows how to talk. He knows how to make you believe he's the moderate in the room. He knows how to take almost any question and steer it right back toward the middle.
Until the part about life beginning at first breath. That one had me shook.
But what really stood out to me was what he had to say about Zach Lahn.
“𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐧.”
That's the attack. That's it.
And I kept thinking: 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭?
Because when you can't....or won't...debate someone on policy, it's awfully convenient to make it personal.
I'm not interested in that.
I got to know Zach during the primary. He's passionate. He's brilliant. And he's pretty hilarious in a dad-joke kind of way. His wife, Annie, is one of the most genuine, down-to-earth women you'll meet. His kids? Incredible. Polite. Well-mannered. Just a great family.
You don't have to take my word for any of it.
𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐬. 𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.
Go to a Rob Sand town hall.
Go to a Zach Lahn town hall.
Listen to them answer questions. Listen to their policies. Watch how they interact with people when the cameras aren't the point.
Then decide for yourself who the politician is.
I can promise you, it's not 𝐙𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐧.
And for the record: growing up in Iowa, leaving Iowa and choosing to come home to Iowa doesn't make you less of an Iowan.

Celebrate Freedom.
Thank a Republican!

Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of slaves in America, so today, please thank a Republican as it was Republicans who freed the slaves while Dems started a Civil War.

Democrats and their modern party continue pushing division and rewriting history to hide their own legacy of racism and opposition to freedom. The truth about who actually fought for emancipation exposes their lies and hypocrisy.

America First means remembering real history and honoring those who advanced liberty instead of the left’s sanitized version that protects their narrative. Republicans have always been the party of freedom and opportunity for all.

The radical left hates when facts challenge their victimhood industry. Trump and conservatives tell the truth while Democrats rewrite the past to maintain power through grievance.
