TRAFFIC SIGNAL CHANGE NOTIFICATION:🚦🚦🚦🚦🚦

The intersection of WV Route 115 North George Street and Liberty Street (East & West) is now a "No Turn On Red" intersection. Therefore, effective immediately, turning right on a red traffic signal at this particular intersection is now prohibited.

Any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this change should be directed to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.

TRAFFIC IMPACT NOTICE:

As a reminder, WV Fest will be held tomorrow, Saturday, June 13th, in Downtown Charles Town. This event begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m.

To accommodate this event, multiple road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect. Parking restrictions and road closures will promptly begin at 5:00 a.m. Any vehicle not removed from the posted event area will be cited and towed at the owner's expense.

This is a heavily attended event. Lengthy traffic delays can be expected throughout the duration of the event. Limited street parking is available, which fills up quickly as does the municipal parking lots. Overflow parking is available at Wright Denny Intermediate School, located at 209 West Congress Street, and Depot District Square, located at 325 North George Street.

This is a family friendly event. Officers with the Charles Town Police Department will be stationed at key intersections, in addition to patrolling the festival grounds on foot. If you are in need of emergent police or medical assistance, please call 911. Non-emergent incidents can be reported by calling 304-725-8484.

Lastly, please drink plenty of water and be kind to one another. Have a safe and enjoyable WV Fest 2026!

TRAFFIC IMPACT NOTICE:

On Saturday, June 13th, WV Fest will be held in Downtown Charles Town. This event begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m.

To accommodate this event, multiple road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect. Parking restrictions and road closures will promptly begin at 5:00 a.m. Any vehicle not removed from the posted event area will be cited and towed at the owner's expense.

Washington Street (WV Route 51) from the intersection of West Street to the intersection of Mildred Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic. In addition, the 100 block of North George Street (WV Route 115), the 100 block of South George Street (WV Route 115), the 100 block of North Charles Street, the 100 block of South Charles Street, the 100 block of North Lawrence Street, the 100 block of South Lawrence Street, the 100 block of North Samuel Street, and the 100 block of South Samuel Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic as well.

Traffic traveling westbound on WV Route 51 is encouraged to use Liberty Street as an alternate route. Traffic traveling eastbound on WV Route 51 is encouraged to use Congress Street as an alternate route. Traffic traveling north and south on WV Route 115 is encouraged to use Mildred Street as an alternate route.

Lengthy delays are expected during the duration of this event due to the anticipated high volume of attendees. If you are not planning on attending this event or visiting any of the downtown businesses, you are encouraged to avoid the downtown area during this time. Roadways will be re-opened at the conclusion of the event when deemed safe. All questions, comments, or concerns regarding this event should be directed to the The City of Charles Town.

The Charles Town Police Department is actively investigating a disturbance involving a male and several juveniles, that occurred on May 30th, at approximately 12:45 a.m., in the Huntfield Subdivision. Investigating officers are in possession of some video footage. However, we believe more video footage exists. The Charles Town Police Department is asking residents in the Huntfield Subdivison to check their security cameras during the specified date and time for any suspicious or unusual behavior. Video footage can be e-mailed to [email protected].
