The Anson County Board of Education will hold a called meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Meeting Room located at 320 Camden Road, Wadesboro, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a revised 2026-2027 school calendar.

Following the opening of the meeting at 9:00 a.m., the Board will enter Closed Session to discuss personnel matters pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(6).

Open Session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be open to the public. The meeting will be live-streamed on the Anson County Schools YouTube channel for public viewing.

A Historic Day for Anson County!

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, Anson County Schools proudly celebrated a milestone years in the making as community leaders, elected officials, former superintendents, project partners, and special guests gathered for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the new Anson Middle School.

Built through years of vision, planning, partnership, and devotion to the students and families of Anson County, this facility represents far more than brick and mortar. It represents opportunity.

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was welcoming back five student representatives who helped break ground for this school as fifth graders and returned as rising eighth graders to help officially open its doors. They are a reminder that this school was built for the children of today and the generations of tomorrow.

Soon, these hallways and classrooms will be filled with learning, leadership development, growth, and accomplishment. More importantly, they will be filled with opportunity.

Opportunity to discover passions.

Opportunity to develop talents.

Opportunity to build friendships and character.

Opportunity to explore the arts, athletics, clubs, leadership, and service.

Opportunity to prepare for high school, college, careers, and life.

Opportunity to become the next teachers, nurses, business owners, first responders, military members, entrepreneurs, and leaders who will shape the future of Anson County.

While this building will serve middle school students, its impact extends far beyond these walls. Strong public schools create strong communities. They attract families and businesses, strengthen our workforce, and provide opportunities that benefit every citizen, whether they currently have children in school or not.

Public schools are where futures are built, dreams are discovered, and possibilities become realities.

This is more than the opening of a new school. It is an investment in the future of Anson County.

‼️Advance Notice Regarding the 2026-2027 School Calendar

We want to provide you with advance notice regarding the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Given the current circumstances surrounding the North Carolina Public School Calendar Law, the Anson County Board of Education has stated its intent to revise the 2026-2027 school calendar so that the school year begins no earlier than August 24, 2026.

While the revised calendar will not be formally considered and approved until July, we wanted to share this information now so that families may begin making plans accordingly. Once the Board takes final action, the approved calendar will be posted on the district website and shared through our regular communication channels.
