Meet Charlotte Business Journal's 40 Under 40 award winner Varian Shrum, chief of staff for Camp North End.

Varian is also a Great Big Story Builder for new Main Library in Charlotte, NC.

When asked what she wants to see on the shelves of the Library when it opens in Spring 2027, she said "I love researching urban design. I would love to see Happy City by Charles Montgomery and Walkable City by Jeff Speck on the shelves."

Come explore the magical way films can influence our everyday lives.

Join Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation, in partnership with the Independent Picture House and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, for a special screening of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. This film was selected by artist David McGee to align with his work on display at the Bechtler and attendees will have the opportunity to view the exhibit and hear how the film inspires his creativity.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation is thrilled to announce a generous $1 million contribution from The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., to the CommonSpark campaign, a public-private partnership intended to infuse $165 million into improving lives and building a stronger community in Mecklenburg County. The investment, which includes a $900,000 grant from the PNC Foundation, brings the campaign one step closer to its $165 million goal to fund the construction of new Main Library and other critical needs across the Library system.

In recognition of this investment and PNC’s longstanding support for the Library, the Tryon Street lobby entrance of the new Main Library will be named PNC Commons.
