UNC Charlotte Fire & Rescue Management Institute The Fire & Rescue Management Institute is a university certificate program designed for current lead

The Fire & Rescue Management Institute is a university certificate program designed for current leaders and supervisors within the fire service including company officers and chief officers, as well as those aspiring to an officer level position. Fire & Rescue professionals in managerial and supervisory roles are expected to be team leaders and must possess the ability to guide their staff in the achievement of department, division, or unit goals. In today’s ever-changing work environment--workforce diversity, employee retention, the impact of sociological events, and the need for strategic planning--the demands placed upon those in a management role are many and increasingly more complex. The Fire & Rescue Management Institute was developed to address these needs through a comprehensive and content rich curriculum. Faculty for the Institute include national, regional, and local fire service leaders, university faculty from a range of disciplines including public administration, MBA, fire safety engineering technology, organizational psychology, and communication studies, as well as management and leadership specialists/consultants. NOTE: Representatives of North Carolina state government communicate via this Web site. Consequently any communication via this site (whether by a state employee or the general public) may be subject to monitoring and disclosure to third parties.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We especially remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day, along with the first responders who served throughout the rescue and recovery efforts and those who continue to live with the lasting effects of their service.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their courage, service, and sacrifice.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸

UNC Charlotte’s Fire & Rescue Management Institute in-person section is full, but there is still an opportunity to participate this year through our new hybrid section.

The hybrid format includes the same core curriculum and instructors, with live online classes, intentional interaction, applied learning, and a few required in-person components. This format may be especially helpful for departments managing travel, staffing, and budget considerations.

We’re hosting an information session on August 11 at 9 AM for anyone interested in learning more about the program, the format, expectations, and registration process.
