Today we celebrate Flag Day. The origins of Flag Day date back to June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress passed a resolution adopting the stars and stripes as the flag of the United States.
More than a century later, President Woodrow Wilson established a national Flag Day on June 14, 1916. Then in 1949, Congress approved the national observance, and President Harry Truman signed it into law.
