A familiar part of downtown Cheyenne's historic streetscape has a refreshed look.

The Lincoln recently completed improvements to its three marquee signs with support from a Capital Improvement Grant through the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority. The project included new marquee faces, updated LED lighting, and new lettering across all three signs.

The improvements update a recognizable feature of The Lincoln while maintaining the character of the theater.

The Capital Improvement Grant is one of several programs available through the Cheyenne DDA to support investment in the Downtown District.

Thank you to Laramie County voters for supporting Proposition #4 and funding for projects in downtown Cheyenne.

The $4 million in 6th Penny funds will support several downtown improvements, including replacement of the Spiker Parking Garage elevators, renovation of the portion of the Cheyenne Depot occupied by the Depot Museum, enclosed trash and recycling storage areas, and curb and sidewalk work.

These investments will support ongoing maintenance of downtown Cheyenne's infrastructure, including work related to safety and accessibility.

A little downtown Cheyenne history:

When Grenville M. Dodge platted Cheyenne, several downtown streets were named after friends and railroad figures who played a role in building the railroad and the city itself.

Do you know the original names of any of these downtown streets?
• Carey Avenue
• Warren Avenue
• Pioneer Avenue
• Central Avenue

This is what a Friday night in downtown Cheyenne looks like.

Last week, the DDA joined the sponsors and people who make Fridays on the Plaza possible on stage for a photo. From up there, it was a pretty great reminder of what these summer evenings bring to downtown.

Tonight is the final Fridays on the Plaza of the season with Ayron Jones and ZamTrip .
