New Community Outreach (NCO) actively supports youth and families in Chicago’s Bronzeville community.

Grounded in a foundation of restorative justice, we collaborate with residents of the South Side of Chicago to reduce the causes & impact of trauma and raise the opportunities for equity and flourishing in our young people & communities. We do this through our partnerships with Jackie Robinson Elementary School, the Bronzeville Community Action Council, The Urban Resilience Network, and other local and city-wide organizations. Building on the relationships of our leadership and board of directors as well as the ministry of New Community Covenant Church in Bronzeville, we have built community gardens, hosted back-to-school fairs, and organized with our strategic partners to reduce violence in our neighborhoods. We are guided by a vision of thriving Chicago communities led by neighbors of all ages. We work collaboratively with residents of the South Side of Chicago to reduce the causes of physical and emotional trauma and raise the opportunities for community equity and individual flourishing.

2026 Garden to Table Program: That's a Wrap!!
We had our final distribution on Sat and put our garden to bed for the winter season.

💖 To our community, we love getting to be in this restorative space with you - see you in the spring!

What a way to kick off KEY at our office last week, with both after-school and Saturday Session!!! 🎊🎉🎇 At Saturday Session, we reflected on courage and the different ways it shows up in our lives.

So many great things happening at our garden and through our Garden to Table Program!
We loved hosting our second Harvest Festival a couple of weeks ago and distributing fresh produce each Saturday to our neighbors!

We're in the final month of our Harvest and Distribution. Stop by on a Saturday, 10-11am at 4225 S. Lake Park!!

Her staff & students who nominated her describe her as follows: "...A lifelong educator and trained restorative justice practitioner, Sonia leads with a deep belief in the power of relationships, community, and youth voice."

Thank you to for recognizing her!! It was a lovely evening of celebrating her commitment, consistency, & contributions to building the restorative ecosystem in our community.

We had a blast coming together as a team at our Back-to-School Staff Retreat! We began exploring our professional learning theme of Yes, And... through a learning session around improv, play, and healing, facilitated by the amazing . What a beautiful way to build trust in ourselves and each other as we prepare to cultivate community in our circle sessions this year. Feeling so grateful!! 💕
