This year marks 40 years of Deborah's Place. To see how much we've grown, just look at where we started!
With nothing but mattresses on the floor and an organized group of compassionate community members, Deborah's Place was born in 1985 at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town. It was a scrappy beginning, fueled by the determination of people just like you. Who would have thought we'd become what we are today?

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
Trafficking takes many forms, and happens across nearly every industry, from hospitality to s*x work. What they all have in common: the exploitation of someone economically vulnerable.
When we meet people's basic needs, we help protect them from this exploitation.
That's how is one piece of preventing human trafficking.
Help us empower women to live life on their terms and in pursuit of their goals by making a donation to support their permanent housing. https://bit.ly/42daz9Q

You only have a few more hours to make a donation in 2024! ⏳ Your support makes amazing outcomes possible for women like Catelyn, who rebuild their lives through Deborah's Place programs. She says "I'm starting basically fresh, from scratch. I'm going to leave my past in the past and start feeling at peace. I want to be happy—and for a long time, I didn't think I deserved that."
Support her success, and that of hundreds of other women, by making a gift today (no really, TODAY!) https://bit.ly/4fEw0n1

It's tradition. In December, we come together to embrace our community. Our team gathers around a huge table and sign hundreds of holiday cards: one for each woman in every Deborah's Place program, so no one feels alone in a season of togetherness.
Happy Holidays! Whether you're observing Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or your own unique family traditions in the coming days, we hope you're safe at home and surrounded by love.

And there are more women like Catelyn that need support to secure and remain housed. Will you be part of the solution?

For women like Catelyn, Deborah’s Place represents a fresh start. Having fled domestic violence on the East Coast, she was the victim of a violent crime here in Chicago and suffered an episode of psychosis because of these traumatic experiences. After all this, she found refuge and support in a 12...

Through our Alumnae Services program, women who "move on" from Deborah's Place stay connected to case management and other support, ensuring that their community carries through into their new chapter. Thanks for making this moment of connection possible 🎃

It's finally here! Happy !

Your gift to Deborah's Place gives so much more than just a roof overhead. When Board Member Amy looks at the work we do, she sees us giving COMMUNITY.

"Deborah's Place provides a community for those who have lost housing, security, resources to live and continue to evolve. It's a community of women in need, a community of employees, social workers, therapists, volunteers, residents, all working together to improve the lives of others. This benefits the larger community of Chicago too."

Today, we're asking you to be part of this community by giving. By volunteering, donating, or spreading the word, you make an amazing difference to the women we serve. https://bit.ly/4hO89Uq

TOMORROW is ! Your support of Deborah’s Place—on and all year round—gives so much more than just a roof overhead. We asked our Board of Directors what they see Deborah’s Place giving. Here’s what Jeremy had to say:

"RESOURCES. The fact that Deborah's Place provides women who experienced homelessness a PERMANENT home in itself is amazing. But what speaks most to me is the additional resources available. From access to healthcare, to a Learning Center with employment and education services, to case management—all provided by caring, compassionate, and dedicated Deborah's Place employees who all have a unified goal of opening doors for those women they serve."

Be a part of something bigger than yourself! Help us give resources to our community by volunteering, donating, or just spreading the word tomorrow, December 3rd. https://bit.ly/4hO89Uq

Look. We know it's Black Friday, and everyone is telling you to buy, buy, buy... But we're asking you to save some room for ! Because at Deborah's Place, your generosity goes further. It gives more than just housing. Board Member Jenn says she sees Deborah's Place giving SISTERHOOD.

"The women of Deborah's Place are united in fighting the issue of homelessness that they all share in common. Through this bond of sisterhood they find comfort, support, and empathy which can then translate into courage, pride, resilience, and most importantly, hope for the future. These women don't have to face their challenges alone... they are always surrounded by their sisters and the love that comes from them. 💜"

Help us give this sisterhood to the women we serve this Giving Tuesday. Whether by volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, it all makes a difference! https://bit.ly/4hO89Uq

We asked our Board of Directors what they see Deborah’s Place giving. Here’s what Mary had to say:

"STABILITY. [Deborah's Place] provides a secure and safe environment. My stability with Deborah's Place came when I had a door key in my hand. From time to time I misplace my keys, but I know my home is still there."
