Univision Water/Lifeguard Training and Safety

In March of 2016, the Sheehan family was forever changed after Christian Sheehan died in a house fire that occurred in his rental home in Champaign just two days after his 23rd birthday.
Remembered as being humble, loving and gentle; Christian was someone who always looked to help those around him. This mentality stuck with his family as year later they came together with the Champaign Fire Department to hold their first alarm installation event.
The group’s drive to help end home fires in the area, naturally led to a partnership with the American Red Cross and its Sound the Alarm program, which has since helped support the annual event by providing smoke alarms, equipment, food and drinks, safety information and more.
Since 2017, the group has helped rally teams of volunteers to install around 1,000 smoke alarms in the homes of local residents and make Champaign a safer place to live; all in Christian's memory.
Visit https://rdcrss.org/3M544N5 to learn more about Christian, the Sheehan Family and the incredible work they do in the Champaign community!

Telemundo: Blood Shortage August 2024

Blood product distributions to hospitals are outpacing the number of blood donations coming in, which is rapidly drawing down the blood supply. The Red Cross is working with hospitals around the clock to meet the blood needs of patients – but can’t do it alone.
