Pardon us as we GUSH for a minute... 🥹
Thirty years ago, two CPS teachers had a dream: that Chicago kids deserved more than a good education — they deserved a holistic one. Academic rigor. Character. Real-world experience. All woven together into what would become A Disciplined Life®, the heartbeat of everything we do.
Kim Nicholas-Day was one half of that dream.
She co-founded Perspectives with the belief that our students are not just capable of achievement — they’re capable of becoming intellectually reflective, caring, ethical people living meaningful lives. That belief built five schools. It built a legacy. It built us.
And true to who she is, Kim didn’t stop investing in Chicago kids when she left our halls. She carried that same fire to Genesys Works Chicago, spending years making sure young people — including our own Perspectives students — got the meaningful employment, connections, and experience they need to thrive far beyond the classroom.
As Kim steps into retirement after more than 30 years in education, we’re not saying goodbye. We’re saying thank you.
Thank you for having the dream. Thank you for building the belief that no Chicago kid should ever be counted out. Thank you for a legacy that will shape generations of students you’ll never even meet.
