"A reminder that "Clean Up Day" for Chicora Borough residents is scheduled for this Saturday, May 2, 2026. Dumpsters will be in the lot at the Chicora Borough Maintenance Garage at 109 Water Street. Residents will need to take items they wish to dispose of to that location between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Personnel from the refuse company will be on site to supervise loading of items to the dumpsters. Please remember that they are unable to accept appliances, electronic items or hazardous materials.

The local chapter of Hearts for Haiti will be on site to accept any donations of scrap metal that residents may want to contribute to their cause. Chicora residents should contact Hearts for Haiti at (724) 822-4953 for assistance if they have scrap metal items to donate that they are unable to load themselves.

FULL AND PART TIME PUBLIC WORKS
LABORER AND WATER WORKS OPERATOR

The Borough of Chicora is seeking applicants for full-time and part–time positions. Full time $25 to $31 per hour plus benefits depending on experience. Part-time $21 per hour.

Must be available for emergency call outs. Ability to operate heavy equipment or learn to. Street snow plowing. Must be able to execute duties from both written and verbal instructions. Must be willing to become PA certified in water works operation. All expenses involved in education, and continuing education to become certified and maintain certification will be covered by the Borough. Additional requirements will be a valid PA driver’s license, background check, and criminal investigation. More explicit details will be available when interviewed. Spring street sweeping in Chicora Borough will be conducted on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 on the West side of Main Street and on Friday, April 24th, 2026 on the East side of Main Street.
Please be sure to move your vehicles of the streets on the respective dates.

Contractors and Chicora Borough personnel will be working to repair a water leak on Kittanning Street tomorrow Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Residents on Kittanning Street in the area between the Elementary School and Grandview Avenue will be without water service beginning at 8:00 AM. We hope to have water service restored by late afternoon. Water service to the Elementary School is not expected to be affected. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to resolve this issue!

Contractors working on behalf of Chicora Borough will be working tomorrow Thursday, January 29, 2026 on East Slippery Rock Street and West Slippery Rock Street within the Borough to remove snow in parking areas and along the edge of the streets as well as at intersections. Work will commence at 5:00 AM. All cars parked along the streets as well as any garbage cans setting along the streets will need to be removed prior to the start time to allow for the work to be completed. Due to the high demand for road salt by all municipalities, Chicora Borough did not receive our scheduled delivery of salt this week leaving us with a short supply in the face of the coming snowstorm. Because of our low stockpile and the fact that snow is expected to fall at a rapid rate on Sunday, we will be applying a minimal amount of anti-skid during the storm but, will continue to plow all Borough streets to keep them open until the storm ends (forecasted to be Monday AM). Normal amounts of anti-skid will be applied to Borough streets when the storm has ended.

Chicora Borough personnel will be working today, December 1, 2025 to perform emergency repair of a water leak on Kittanning Street. Residents on Green Street, Kittanning Street, Casa Bella Drive, East Slippery Rock Street, and South Main Street will be without water service beginning at 9:00 AM. We hope to have repairs completed and restore water service to all residents by 5:00 PM. Thank you for your patience as we work to complete this task.

Chicora Borough personnel will be working tomorrow, October 3, 2025 to complete asphalt repairs on the lower end of Pine Ridge Drive. The section of Pine Ridge Drive between Oak Drive and Kramar (Bullman) Lane will be closed to all traffic during the morning hours beginning at 8:00 AM until repairs are completed. This will complete our water line project in the area. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to complete this task!

Chicora Borough personnel will be working tomorrow, October 1, 2025, to install a new water line service across Pine Ridge Drive. Pine Ridge Drive will be closed between Bullman Lane and Oak Drive beginning at 7:30 AM and remain closed for the majority of the day. The other areas of Pine Ridge Drive will remain open to traffic during the work. Water service to customers on Oak Drive and on Pine Ridge Drive between Oak Drive and Spring Street will be interrupted and customers in that area will be without water service for an extended period beginning at 8:00 AM and continuing until work is completed. We expect to complete the work by late afternoon. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to resolve this matter!

Shields Paving will be working for Chicora Borough to complete milling and repaving of Spring Street (between East Slippery Rock Street and Pine Ridge Drive) and Simpson Avenue (between West Slippery Rock Street and Central Avenue) within the Borough beginning Friday, September 26th and continuing on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025.

Milling operations will commence on both streets the morning of September 26th at 7:00 AM and continue throughout the day. The firm will return to begin paving operations the morning of September 30th at 7:00 AM and continue through the day.

Residents should remove parked cars from the indicated streets to allow for full-width milling and pavement resurfacing of the areas and to prevent any overspray of tar or materials to vehicles. Traffic flow in the areas will be affected throughout the day(s). All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled/prolonged in the event of rain.
