On 10/21 Chiefland Fire responded to ABC Pizza for a reported vehicle fire. Fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries reported.

On 10/21 Chiefland Fire along with Fanning Springs Fire Rescue, Levy County Department of Public Safety, and Chiefland Police Department responded to a residence off SW 4th Ave for a reported structure fire. First units on scene observed a pull behind camper fully engulfed on the back side of the property. Command was established and a quick knock down of the fire prevented further spread. Water supply was established by Fanning Fire. No injuries were reported.

On 10/16/2026 at approximately 05:55AM Chiefland Fire received a call about a 10-foot-deep sink hole in the area of 8138 NW 77th Pl. It was reported that a dog had fallen into the sink hole and was trapped. On scene, Fire 71 requested a consultation with technical rescue by phone. Jones Masonry provided a mini excavator for assistance. Crews from Chiefland Fire began digging out the sink hole to rescue the dog. During the dig, lime rock prevented the excavator from digging further. Crews began using tools to chip away at the lime rock to reach the animal. As crews began to get closer to the dog, the dog began to jump in an attempt to exit the sink hole. The dog's owner began calling the dog and was able to get ahold of the dog assisting her out of the sink hole. The dog was removed at approximately 08:19AM and appeared to have no injuries.

The border collie was in good spirits and running around after getting removed from the sink hole.

Chiefland Fire and the Levy County Road Department are extremely grateful to Jones Masonry for providing the mini excavator.

Today Chiefland Fire responded to the area of US 129 and NW 130th St for a vehicle fire. First arriving units on scene observed a fully involved pickup truck on the west side of US 129. Crews quickly deployed an attack line and extinguished the fire without further extensions or other property damage. No injuries were reported

UPDATE*******

Forestry has cut a line around a 6 acre fire. There is currently no threat to property. All equipment has cleared from US 27 Alt.

PSA Chiefland Fire is on scene of a large brush fire in the area of Blue Springs of US 27 Alt in Bronson. Florida Forest Service - Waccasassa Forestry Center is on scene with 2 dozers on the ground assessing the fire due to the heavy brush. Please use caution when travel south on US 27 Alt as emergency equipment is on the side of the road.

Thank you to our new local flight, AirLife 68 who responded quickly due to a medical call near clay landing. The location of AirLife 68 proved useful in a timly response. Thank you to the Dixie County Fire Rescue for providing transport as we have had and extremely busy day in the county.
